How many managers get a chance to take over a team that is 3rd in the table and only 3 points off the leaders?

Do you think Managers might be more interested in swindon this time round as there is a realistic chance they could get a promotion under their belts.I know the usual suspects on here will come out and say no one will want to work with this board but i cant help feeling that this is probably one of the better jobs that will come up in the next year or so.

Yes we are an attractive opportunity, but at the same time we are one of the most unattractive opportunities for the reasons you have pointed out too.  Much like Leeds...

Macca, as one of the "usuals" I'll suprise you.  I don't think Managers would turn us down as they don't have much understanding of the situation at the club other than we went through the financial mire recently.

Beyond Swindon, people probably aren't that clued up on the day to day goings on.

Whether the Board have it within them to make the right appointment after a thorough recruitment process is questionable, given they all accept not being football people.  But I don't see very many people turning it down - longevity in the job of a decent Manager is another question though.

Added to the league position, we are still seen as quite a big club (In the context of League One and League two).

I think we'll get quite a few applicants, whether they still want the job after the interview when they've been told how much money they have available for players is another matter.

Looking at this rationally, we know that Newbury, if they haven't been removed will appoint Adie Williams full time, if we get a couple of draws mixed in with the defeats.

     In some ways this isn't a bad thing, as they could knowing their time is short, go for an eye catching appointment and saddle the next owners with even more debt.

     Also it could have been worse, their first reaction was Tuttle.....who fair play to the fella saved us from the Board here.

   Carson will rattle on like when King left about applications and names.....knowing, as was pointed out ad infinitum by myself and a few others, that it would be an internal so making the likelihood of relegation that much greater.

  Had Reeeeves been fit and at work he'd have got it....Devlin was around then as well.   The decision is entirely cost driven and circumstantial....and has nothing to do with planning, candidate qualifications or suitability.

 All we can hope for is that lady luck is smiling on us for once and Williams happens to be a manager.

We've got no money but that is the norm for lower league clubs. We're third in the table with a decent squad of players for this level.

There will be no shortage of applicants and some of them will even be half decent!

I don't disagree that with the current board the likelihood is that we will get an internal appointment, but if you are saying it is cost driven, there is an important difference from the King situation in that he remained on the payroll and therefore sacking him did not free up any of the existing "budget". In theory this is not the case now although I'm sure they will use the alleged overspend to justify themselves.

I don't doubt we'll get some decent applicants but it all depends whether the board are feeling ambitious for once, which is unlikely given the fact they've set precendence, or whether applicants are interviewed by our clueless board and are put off immediately.

Its a good point about the King situation, but you surely answer your own point, that's not taking into account the 1 mill CVA, which I think we all assumed BP was taking care of.

Does anyone know the real money facts at this Club now? I've lost track. Would the £750,000 claimed overspend include the CVA totally, or partly?

 The only official word that I've heard on the CVA, was when Bob Holt was questioned about it at  an AGM, and stated after hurried consultation with Sandy, that there was no fund for paying this neither would there be unless a redevelopment proposal was in the bag.
