While reports in the French media suggest that Materazzi called Zidane a 'terrorist,' making reference to his Algerian roots, the Frenchman's reaction was inexcusable and left a sour taste in the mouth after what has been an outstanding career.

if thats true materazzi should be harshly punished
just imagine if me or you walked down the street and shouted 'terrorist' at a muslim? if brought to court, you would receive some sort of punishment

Just thinking that that would be the only kinda thing that could make a man snap like that. Calling someone a terrorist isn't gonna have that effect.

impressionism isnt art. "we all still know you're bald" i still maintain that whatever materazzi said, it must have been well beyond the realms of banter/sledging for him to snap and react like that in a split second.

surely there's someone out there who can lip read and can tell us exactly what Materazzi said! Anyone else notice him give ZZ's nipple a tweak just before those mysterious words?

I'm not claiming this is the truth or anything.. just another one to add to the pile! http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_sports/view/218322/1/.htmlThe former Real Madrid star's moment of madness in his last match before retiring may have been provoked by Materazzi calling his sister a prostitute, according to a report on Brazilian television channel Globo.
Although neither player has yet revealed the nature of their disagreement, Fantastico, a programme on Globo, employed lip-reading experts who said footage of the incident showed the Italian twice insulted Zidane's sister.
The programme claimed Materazzi made the same comment twice before then using a "coarse word" at the French player. Fantastico, a programme on Globo hmmm :?
