to be fair the only way id consider getting rid of iffy atm would be if we could get someone proven in and the only realistic manager out there we could have a chance of getting at the moment is ian holloway really.

I'd love to see Holloway as manager but there's not much chance he'd go from being a championship manager to league two and very little chance he'd take the inevitable pay cut.

Not suggesting Iffy should go for a moment but looking at the options there are a few out there…

If you’re looking for a traditional manager then I’d have to opt for Stan Ternent.  Rules with an iron fist, takes no bullshit and did very well with Burnley.  Didn’t hang around Gillingham to long but who can blame him.

Brian Flynn has a first-class record in the lower leagues working with next to nothing at Swansea and Wrexham and has that decent eye for a player.  Cracking bloke as well real gentleman.

Then there are the slightly more unrealistic targets of Kinnear, Holloway and Mcallister.  If you don't ask you don't get!

Or you could opt for a character like Nicky Law who’s past couple of jobs have gone a bit tits up but has a very strong record at this level.  I wouldn’t quibble over Harford who I believe has it in him to make a good manager if given time rather than the two losing hands he got dealt at Forest and Rotherham.

Depends how you sell it.  We’re on the verge of bankruptcy, there’s no playing budget and there will be even less next season and we want instant results.  Opposed to we’re looking for a long term appointment over the duration of the Stadium development and we want someone to install the groundwork now with a view to a successful future.

Holloway was at the game on Saturday supposedly, although what he saw would have done little to inspire him.  He would undoubtedly be my first choice, but I would wait to see the fate of our club before judging on Iffy's future.  There's still a sniff that we will still be in league one next season.

The most important thing is to have a manager with a good eye for a player, something which is essential with our budget, also it's preferable if they're entertaining. No time for boring managers and obviously they're bad for motivation.

Previous success is an advantage but particularly if it's been against the odds at a club with very little money.

in other words, mr andy king.

wenger's the most boring man on earth, he hasn't done a bad job at arsenal i reckon.

There is no doubt it is very importantl to have a manager with an eye for a player which was indeed one of King's strong points and one reason why we should have kept him but there are other managers who're also good at that and that's exactly what we need.

One of the main reasons we are in the shit financially is because McMahon and Gorman had an amazing ability to throw money away  on completely shit or just average players. Drysdale for £375k, Mark Robinson a fucking right-back for £600k being two of the main examples.

Clearly that's not what we need.

I bet Wenger would be shit in this league.

no please, every ball will be in row z.

seroiusly, the thing that i am uneasy about is the fact that iffy, reeves and woan are all new to coaching, so they have no old head or experienced man to turn to for advice.

One thing having an eye for a player another thing having the resources to sign them.

Look at the difference a half fit Paolo Smith has made.  Where would we be now if we’d have nabbed him in the summer?

I think King was scuppered pre-season but with what he managed to bring in he was going nowhere.  It’s hard to say now the dust has settled if he could have managed to turn it around had he been given the time to bring in the second batch of loans.

Can’t see there being much if any difference to what Iffy’s managed if King had stayed.

If anything you can’t really argue with the limited forays Onura has made into the transfer market.  Gurney would have been an addition regardless of manager in charge, Peacock has been a cracker, Brown has mixed, the French lads have been successful and Smith attributed his arrival to knowing Iffy.  Although that said how many more offers were on the cards at the time?

Hopefully we can see a bit more budget in the summer.

Holloway isnt at a club anymore. so he may be tempted to join us because he wants to be a manager again. he would be a good choice. he is also from these parts and being a "westcountry" boy can only help us. as some of you have pointed out money could be a problem though but at the end of the season King gets paid off for good therefore freeing up a bit more cash

It's not a very convincing list is it:

Crooked Lou the bag man - see a previous post, hasn't he done enough fucking harm to this club

Ian Woan - yeah promoting an untried youth team coach that might work...........er hold on?

Martin Ling - Yeah I'll leave the East end, near where I grew up, where I'm managing a club that's about to win promotion, and where I have a decent relationship with the chairman and a bit of cash to spend, to manage Swindon. Or perhaps I won't

Reeves, Paul Smith - Similar to Woan. Could be good. Could be fucking useless. Who knows. We could just appoint a new ex player every season until one muddles through a season without getting relegated I suppose but it's not really a strategy is it.

As for the rest, well if we're talking about people we can't afford then why fuck about, O'Neils available
