Excellent journeyman striker who always punched above his weight even at the top level.
He was never afraid of a small club (inc. the Pox) or a relegation fight and I hope he finds plenty to fight for and recovers well now.

Will always have a soft spot for Windass for the goal at Wembley that kept the Shitheads out of the Premier League.
Wish him all the best

Lots of people 'try' to do this don't they, I mean how hard can it be? If you genuinely tried & failed why would you tell a national newspaper?

To be fair if I had played for Oxford, I'd be considering topping myself.
In all seriousness though, I hope he can work through it

Because you wouldn't have a chance to tell them if you were successful.

He gives his reason if you read it http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16566561.stm'Exercising your demons', I think its called. Like Gazza talking about booze all the time.

You can tell the professional players who really enjoy playing football, and I think they find it harder to come to terms with retirement when it comes.
