Absolutely right, their players went mental when he was red-carded and it was a legitimate decision. The 'keeper's actions were easily punishable by a red card, as the ref said afterwards he did not try to evade the attacker and kicked him more than once, whilst he was on the floor also. Red card.

If one player punched another, then the victim lamped the aggressor, they'd both be sent off wouldn't they? You wouldn't spare the retaliatory action just because he hit second.

Well, the Dutch FA think you are talking bollocks.

This is a good thing.

If legitimate why has it been rescinded?    A goalkeeper who was sent off after kicking a fan has had his red card rescinded.

Obviously emotions ran high but bottom line is that AZ had good grounds for thinking it wasn't safe to play and therefore for leaving the field of play

I thought that the first time I watched it and I think the ref made the right decision at the time. But when I watched it a couple more times and I'm not so sure, the keeper does genuinely appear scared for his safety as he almost takes one of the stewards out as well by mistake. Easy to understand reacting like that when someone attacks you out of nowhere.

I agree. The keeper should of let him get up to see if he had a knife or anything on him first.I mean the way that fan approached him must have been no different to a tackle. Get a grip you fucking jobsworths.

I thought a lot of Dutch football grounds had netting/fencing/plastic shields behind the goals but I seem to be mistaken. Looking at this image seems to suggest that the guy who ran on the pitch would have had a long way and a bit of a climb to get there

The away fans at PSV are kept behind netting. I assume some of the older grounds in the Netherlands do have some short of shielding behind the goals.

It was a red, violent conduct, doesn't matter that it was a supporter, he had to go. The dutch FA over turned the decision due to the public out cry more than anything.

The supporter managed to get on the pitch using the access from the disabled supporters section, according to talksport dutch football ezpert, who also stated the keeper and the supporter may know each other, think one is the ex boyfriend of the other's current girlfriend, this has not been confirmed though.
