In a world of terror, you won't get noticed unless you do a vaudeville tumble.

Pleb bomber from Broadfield Sussex as in Broadfield Stadium home of Chavley Town....if only Evans could have done that to himself jumping up and down on the touchline last Tuesday.

Broadfield is not part of Crawley, we disown that chavvy bit.  In fairness, Crawley is no more Chavvy than Calne, Chipp'nam and Devizes!

Hmmm No more chavvy than Calne? Is this the Calne that's 90% big council estate in the middle of the Wiltshire countryside, built to house the people that worked in the pork pie factory in the 60's we're talking about? Because that's not much of a bar to get over in the "non-chaviness" stakes from what I recall.

I think you have achieved a 100% error rating in this reply  Smiley

Maybe. Can't say I've been there in 20 years. But it was a bit of a dump back then. I remember Calne as a place where a fifth of the local population worked at the Harris factory making pork pies, suasages and bacon. Then in 82/83 (?) becoming the place where a fifth of the population were unemployed, when the place shut down.

That tended to make it a bit chavvy.

Has it dragged itself up a bit since then?

Yep. The factory closed in the early eighties and was demolished a couple of years later, leaving a large gap in the town centre. The town has always had an "edge" to it  Smiley , but is no better / worse than other local towns. One thing we do have is some great countryside around here.
