pickled eggs are ace.as are onions,red cabbage,cauliflower,and gherkins.
love it!

onion is better cut into rings and just soaked in vinegar for a couple of hours. My nan used to put a bit of brown sugar in it as well. lush.

Oh, and you hardly ever see garlic pickle these days, which is also very tasty.

There's a Pataks one in a jar if you like a curry version. Alternatively, it's not difficult to make it yourself?

On the subject of garlic I was in a pub in the wilds of Warwickshire a couple of weeks ago and there was a basket of the biggest bulbs of garlic that I have ever seen in my life on the bar. The landlady said "yes, home grown. Take a few bulbs and roast them with onion and olive oil for an hour or so. Lovely on fried potatoes". I am planning this one...
