I was recently introduced to this simple site http://d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y.com/.

At almost 35 I could be considered to be half way through my life, yet half my life I was spelling it "definately".

Thank fuck that wasn't just me. Up until a couple of years ago I was convinced every spell checker I'd used was broken, no matter which way I tried spelling that word it always rejected it, until my bird told me how to spell it properly.

it's 'i' before 'e' except after 'c' unless 'i' am in 'their'
or 'science' and numerous derivatives thereof

One collar, two socks.

Too obtuse Sussex.

C before S in the alphabet and 1 before 2.

'I before E except after C' has always made me think of one word - ceiling. As in words that start with a C. I can't think of any others..?

I would also just like to have another rant about the use of 'of'.

As in 'I could of'. ARRRRGHHHHH. It is 'I could have'.

That's better now, I can go to bed happy.

It's just something my old English teacher taught me, and it's stuck for over 20 years.

I also still need to remind myself that "I before E, except after C". Am I the only one?

I learnt how to spell it correctly off of a CD case....
