The assumption by some is that we will replace Igoe with someone better. I just can't see it given the noises made about current finances.

its stupid that they're leaving it this long for a decision. i thought king set a deadline of 16th may for the out of contract players? so far only heywood has been decent enough to say he's definatly going.

like dazza said, while all this waiting around is going on king cant bring in any new players, & the ones he's after like shakes & tierney are now talking to other clubs. we could end up with nothing!

King did think that was the deadline but Sandy had set the deadline for the 6th month in the year not the 5th month in the year (she has a few issues with numbers).  So King happily booked his holiday without realising that all his out of contract players would still be negotiating when he returned in June.

Still, could have been worse, the board could have demanded that players make their best efforts to give them an answer at some point in the coming year!

Igoe is overrated but I would like to see him stay.  It is not going  to happen though as he got offered £750pw instead of the £1500 he was on.  I have an inside source and according to my mole this year in the boardroom the talk is of budgets and nothing else.  For f**k's sake why can't they just offer Smithy a decent deal?  My uncle is very good friends with SSW so I will see what I can do.  Also my brother's Chelsea football coach used to share an apartment with Grant Smith.  He said he would ring him and tell him to sign a contract.

Smithy's Dad might be acting angry as a tactical way of getting his son a better wage.  He deserves it but Gordon Smith is undoubtedly a pleb.

I get the impression he made his mind up that Grant would be leaving a long time before he even got the offer and nothings going to change his mind now, I'm sick of all his "the fans have been great but...." rubbish, means nothing if he's leaving.
