We were hit from behind on the M4 once, at a low-ish speed. I got out didn't look much damage at all. It wasn't til I arrived at my destiantion that I had a chance to have a proper look, and realised all the damage was underneath the car. Final bill (covered by her insurance) £1,500, so even though it doesn't look like much damage has been done, quite often there is plenty to get the car back to it's original condition.
I would also like to think that if the innocent car driver's car has been damaged and being done via the "at fault driver's" insurance company the garage do their best to get it back to the best possible condition, which means spending at bit of money on it.
Don't get me wrong, there was damage and the garage showed me. I also had no objection to getting the car back to the exact condition it was in. I actually went to the garage and paid in person and got the mechanic and manager to show me exactly what they were doing and why. It was an absolute piss take. They started going on about shit like clips - "that have to be from us for warranty issues". I understood it all had to be main-dealer, but christ, getting to a grand in costs on a few fixings and tweaks? It was really silly. The most expensive replacement part was the rear bumper, which was visibly undamaged, but they explained it had something to do with a broken fixing or some bollocks again. The second most expensive part, from recollection, was the equally undamaged number plate! I wasn't happy (they even agreed the bumper looked fine), but they and i knew i had to go with it. We agreed that all the "broken" parts will be given to me upon completion because i made it perfectly clear they were obviously pulling a fast one. And besides they weren't getting a mint bumper, off a brand new car, to sell to some other cunt - if they even replaced it at all! He took my number, my name and my address and promised to contact me when the work was done. Anyway, a short time later i ask the bird how her car's getting on, she says it's back and dandy. I phone the garage and ask to speak to the bloke who promised me a call. I forget his name, god knows how, but he just explains he has no idea who i am, what i'm on about and can't discuss the car. I'll repeat myself, they're cunts. I've got myself angry again now Jan, I'm gonna have to do a Nitromors drive-by tonight or something.

Bazza, I understand your point, but even if there is no visible damage but there has been a collision then the part will be replaced regardless for safety purposes.
I had a prang in my Megane a few years ago, some daft bint pulled out in front of me at a T-Junction. All that was damaged was the light, a small dint in the bumper and a tiny crumple in the bonnet which could easily have been straightened but I ended up with a new light, new wing, new bumper, new grill and new bonnet.

I know sam. I'm reasonable bloke, and wouldn't for a second begrudge the bird replacement parts. But the only part replaced, forgetting a number plate and screws and clips and crap, was the bumper and i paid up. I wish i could find the receipt, it's comical. Truly. My point is not that they charged me, that woulda been forgotten in a heart beat, it was just that they completely failed to prove to me they'd done as they said. I just wanted my car parts!

See I've never ever had a problem with skurrays, yet had issues with Fish Bros Peugeot.
As most have said its down to the dealership, and most are 'stealers'.
Fish Bros Renault are another load of shit also. Have to take my company motor there, with 4,000 miles on the clock I suddenly got a burning smell from the clutch. Took it in, they said it couldn't possibly be the clutch due to the mileage, they stripped out three quarters of the engine until they claimed they had found the fault - an oil seal. Put it back together, handed it back to me, by the time I got to Bruce Street Bridges the smell was back. I returned said vehicle, three days later they told me they had to order a new clutch and flywheel!! Ten days off the road and they couldn't even diagnose it properly, although I had told them it was the clutch smelling! When I picked it up the lady on the service desk smiled and said just as well it was all down to warranty ans the bill would have been £2,000!!

Vauxhall are a subsidiary of GM, based in Detroit U.S.A.
If you don't get any satisfaction with Vauxhall, contact GM and tell them that their product will be "hung out to dry" on YouTube.
The car industry is not in a position to lose customers.

update
basically the car went back last week for another 2 days to have a new wiper motor fitted and re-check this leak.
they had informed us they came tothe conclusion that it was the windscreen and the seals were not preopely sealed so water was getting in.
Ok we said and have had AutoGlass come out today. the bloke took away all the plastic needed to get to the windscreen only to find the "well" which sits underneath the wipers (where the air con filter is) full of water. there are two holes there full of leaves and crap which was blocking the water from escaping out the car so the water would build up and leak through the filter into the car. No new window needed and all cleaned by autoglass man.
now vauxhall have said on all three ocasions they have checked the filters including the air con and can't find a fault.
the fucking wankers haven't even checked it at all so i'm seriously fucked off. i'm about to phone them and give them hell

Never owned a Vauxhall, their trademark looks Welsh.
When you buy your next car, go back to the Vauxhall dealer ask for the sales manager and then show him your non-Vauxhall car, and then give him two fingers. Michael Caine did that when a dealer wouldn't sell him a Roller, but he showed up in a Roller from another dealer.

Yeah contact General Motors mate. They pull the strings with Vauxhall and i (unfortunatly) have the pleasure of dealing with them daily in my job. Also have the pleasure of dealing with all the local dealers such as Fish Brothers and Dick Lovett etc. I think dealers in general can be absolute poo when it comes to service, mainteance and repair. They are all driven by sales but i guess that's the whole point for them.
