Great record...X Ray Spex at there best, anyway was reading today about cliches and how they are in our everyday language and one cliche we use often is sort of football related so here goes.
In 1908 Spurs and some other teams toured Argentina,i think Swindon used to tour South America at times..anyway this involved long ship trips back and for winning the all team fancy dress the ships captain presented Spurs with an exotic Bird, that lived at White Hart Lane for 11 years!
In the old days you had to apply to join the first division and Spurs did,but there hopes were hijacked by there local foes Woolwich Arsenal, whos chairman was on the league commitee.
On the day they were denied the famous Spurs Parrot became sick and coupled with the fact Spurs were not elected this was big news and the cliche As Sick As A Parrot was born.
The word cliche is French for click and was taken from the clicking of the newspaper printers that first started using cliches in a big way for there Headlines.
Hope i didnt bore you but at The End Of The Day its just abit of trivia.......oh and thats the biggest used cliche that we use in this country!

Great record...X Ray Spex at there best,

There's a band I haven't thought much about for many a day....think I've got a copy of Oh Bondage up yours somewhere.

That was a great period from about 76-79 when punk meant just about anyone could have a bash at forming a band...and John Peel would play your stuff.

I liked their name, which I always presumed to be a reference to the things always advertised in Action Comics and Marvel Comics...which presumably nobody ever bought...or maybe they did.

Methinks XTC couldn't have come from anywhere else. When Barry Andrews left XTC, and they replaced him with Dave Gregory...who used to play in an ace Swindon band, Dean Gabba and the Gabba Deans...I only eve rsaw them in Bristhole where they had a following, but kind of died when Gregory left. Then there was Pete Cousins' band Stadium Dogs, who weren't too shabby. Pete, of course, being STFC legend Harry's son.

As you may tell from on here Leefer the local music scene still has some life, get your arse along and see some of these boys and girls.
