Looking at Bens mock up, it might look a better fit if the bat was upside down?
I was planning to take out the funny bit which the sword sits on (like on the left side below) and sort of sit a cricket bat in the the middle. (Quick over the top sketch)...

Although probably down a bit from that so goes under the motto and pokes out the bottom sot of, and obviously not silly colours.
I was also going to draw a bat in a similar style to the rest of the logo, with quite a think Black outline and then just block colour and simple highlights.
