turn avatars off?

at the moment i sit next to my boss, and tomorrow will be moving in to view of the office manager, so does anyone know how to remove them to allow covert browsing and time consumption?

Untick the show pictures box under the multimedia heading

thank you. that does make the whole internet look a bit shit though. but if there's not a way to turn avatars off on this site i guess its the best i'll get. i think i may just risk it with the pics, it should encourage me to do more work/less wasting.
