I think common sense does need to prevail at times. On the sole of someones shoe and in someones pocket is slightly different when you talk about intentional and unintentional possession.

Seems he isn't the only one being harshly done by. Would you applaud these decisions too?

The thing is though Macca that many of these people appear to be innocent. 4 years for having poppy seeds from a bread roll is a joke. And the guy with 0.03 grams of cannabis on his shoe could well have stood on somebody elses discarded spliff, withouth ever having done any drugs throughout his life. If people knowingly break the law then they have nobody else to blame but themselves, but some of those sentences simply do not serve justice.

I'm just going to keep clear myself.

The amount of British tourists that break the law abroad is too many to count. If everyone got put away for 4 years for thsoe offences nobody would travel. I'm talking about silly things like drunken public behaviour, sex in public, indecent exposure etc. Not advocating it at all, but I would sympathise for those that got a 4 year stint over an act of stupidity. If someone accidently left a miniature bottle of alcohol in their bag? Would that be different because alcohol in this country it is socially and legally acceptable?

I certainly wouldn't wish anyone to prison for a minor incident. This country or abroad. I'm not sayign he should be released or the Goverment should/n't help him. I'm just sayign I can sympathise.
