Stealing peoples wireless connection

I know someone asked about this before. Heres something i found from the BBC website. How pathetic

"Man arrested over wi-fi 'theft'  
A man has been arrested in connection with using a wi-fi broadband connection without permission.
He was initially detained by two Police Community Support Officers in Chiswick, west London, on Tuesday.

They became suspicious when they saw the 39-year-old using his laptop outside a house in Prebend Gardens.

When questioned he admitted to using someone else's unsecured wi-fi broadband connection. He has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The case is now being handled by the Metropolitan Police's computer crime unit.

Det Con Mark Roberts said: "This arrest should act as a warning to anyone who thinks it is acceptable to illegally use other people's broadband connections."

Dishonestly obtaining free internet access is an offence under the Communications Act 2003 and a potential breach of the Computer Misuse Act."

I'm doing the same right now. If I'm in my living room there's an unsecured network that has a stronger signal than my own wireless connection, and the laptops wireless radio switches to it automatically.

Serve the silly buggers right for not securing it.

Some people and organisations deliberately set their networks up to have public access. If you're sitting in your car and power up to pick up your e-mails or something how the hell are you supposed to tell which are an open access resource and which are just lazy bastards who can't be bothered to go through the 5 minute security menu on their router?

we have someone around here who's network isnt secure and I can log on.

The only time I used it was to log a complaint that my internet wasnt working properly!!

Agreed, inside your own home then fair enough it's the persons fault for not securing it in the first place but going outside someones house and doing it deserves a fucking slap.
