Obvious answer is yes, cos we'd have been in the Play-Off Final 3 years ago...

Southampton have just lost last night on penalties, but would have been through on Away goals....

nah i think it gives it an extra edge. teams can't just go away get a 1-0 win and then come back from the home leg knowing they they can just keep a clean sheet and so sit back. its more entertaining in my opinion

I think they should; but then in 87 the Gillingham match would never have gone to the 3rd match at Palace as we'd have been knocked out on away goals that night.

So not sure really!

I can see why it is more applicable/relevent in Europe, and a goal is a goal wherever you score it so I guess they shouldn't, then again we would've got to cardiff?  Oh, I dunno!

Yes, but only in the event of a draw after EXTRA time.

e.g  We lose 2-1 at home, we win 2-3 away, agg after 90 = 4-4 so into extra time. We go through on away goals if it stays like that.

Nah.

Derby and Southampton were evenly matched. Whether penalties or away goals decided who went through didn't really matter

Definately not. I believe away goals were brought in to stop teams going away from home holding out for a clean sheet and to make them play more attacking.

These play off games have been very entertaining in my opinion so no need to change it.

i voted NO.

the excitement of games like last night wouldn't exist and it wouldn't have been half as good seeing poxford lose on away goals than seeing them fuck up there penalties

i agree. Last night's game was an absolute cracker. David Sheepshanks Ipswich chairman stoped away goals in the play-offs because ipswich kept getting knocked out on away goals before they got promoted to the Prem.

Bizarrely enough though, I'm sure that in the semi finals at that time, away goals did count. That's how Gillingham got to be in the final. They beat Sunderland on away goals. Wierd

I think they should, it's total bollocks you might aswell play all division play off's at a neautral venue in a one off game to see who goes through to the Final.

There's no logic in that whatsoever then!

Thank god it was different rules for the final.  Cheesy
