38,000 by pushing back the noth, south and east stands, kind of like arsenal. The double tier west will stay as it is. Already applied for planning permission, it will work in 3 stages, so if we get relegated we can stop and only do one or two stands, etc. Lets face it, we are not going to get anywhere near filling 38,000 in the championship.

Think it will help with englands bids for major events aswell, 24,000(capacity now) is only fit for under 21 games, this could host group stage games at a major event.

What's the cost of the expansion on those stands and was it something envisaged and built into the plans for the stadium when it was constructed?

As I recall, the same as the Stadium of light it was designed to be expanded accordingly. I believe Sunderland went from 36k to 48k and could be expanded to 63k if required.

I think we heard it was gonna cost about 1,000 a seat to extend. Extra 14,000 on what we have now. So around 14 million im guessing. Bound to be more for other expenses though. We havn't signed anyone bar seol since we have been promoted so its all coming out of the season tickets, tv money( 25 million) and merchandising, etc.
