Were both due to play on Friday but got caught on the M4 and were late ...ended up on bench

That would explain Smith starting at right back ahead of Jenks (thought that was strange) and McDermott only played cos Roberts wasnt playing (worked out well in the end!)

There was a crash on the M4 on Friday, apparently explains why City didn't bring as many as were expected too.

Smith played well so that was a bonus too, and the goal from McDerrmot worked well.

Any excuse. What time did happen because surely the match would've been delayed if it were that bad?

I doubt Sky would have let them delay it and besides last season,as per usual, the  coaches were stuck in a massive traffic jam getting into bristol,we were told they were delaying the kick off but of course they didn't the fuckers :x .Luckily for me i was in the first coach so didn't miss too much, but people were still coming in at 3.15.But what the hell we won that 2-1 too Beers

They turned up at about 7.35pm, I was in Winners and a rumour had circulated that a 15 minute delay was likely.  Checked with the guys on reception who confirmed kick off was not delayed but it had caused a delay in people arriving (inc Roberts and Jenkins)

I had a mate who was coming from Yate but he got stuck at Chippenham and couldn't make kick-off.

The accident was headed Westbound from what I heard, sounds like the delay was caused by the scourge of motorways the rubberneckers who went slow to have a look.  Quite lucky that Gurney didn't get caught in it too being a Bristol boy, and iffy lives down that way.

Rob T how was the ticker tape from your sit?  I was a bit disappointed with the amount of paper on the floor by the time I got to the ground, about 10 mins pre kick off.  Bloody kids.  Still least everyone has a good time.

It was a lorry travelling towards Swindon that hit the central reservation about 2 miles after J18.  Was stuck in it myself - took me 2 and a quarter hours to get to the game, got there about 7.20 in the end, so just missed on drink time really.  Glad I left early!!

I did try and ring the club a few times to warn them about the traffic, but all the phones were on answer machine which was pretty shocking.

Oh well.

I travelled up from Bristol and the traffic was atrocious - took 2 hours to get to Chippenham from Bristol.....

Kick-off really should have been delayed, especially as Roberts might have started....   :x

Ummmm, I missed it!!!!  I got sucked in by the kick-off delay rum our and purchased an extra pint.  I got in just after kick-off so I have no idea, but the aftermath looked like we dumped tonnes of the stuff over the stands, so my guess was that it went well.  Martin was out there today and said the cleaners were having a grand time cleaning it all up Wink
