I now own both of these on my PS2 and have to say Pro Evo is much more enjoyable than Fifa.
Fifa has loads of official teams and detailed players and kits but the gameplay disappointed today.
It's slow and doesn't flow, i don't enjoy it like Pro Evo.
Will i grow to like Fifa or is Pro Evo better?

I used to always prefer FIFA, until one warm Saturday afternoon I played Pro Evo 2 around my mates house and was shown the light. The feeling was like being born again. I have never looked back since that day

I have a theory on this. Basically, everyone is stupid except me. FIFA all the way, although I've not played Pro Evo 5, unless it's a mammouth improvement on PES4 I'm not interested.
