Northern chippies are better.

The one by Leeds Elland Road where the queue is massive but moves like clockwork and one near Hulls new ground. Always use Haddock up north too, rather than bland cod.

Don't live in Swindon and Calne fish n chips are shite....ok for pie or sausage but the fish int good.

That one in Basset isn't bad.

The 'World famous' Jacks is opposite my head office. Very nice but fucking steep.....Surrey and all that!

Question for everybody: Batter or breadcrumbs?

I'll give you a clue, the correct answer is batter.

Phillips in Gorse Hill - used to run the one by the CG. York Road had gone a bit downhill last couple of times I went there.
Got to agree with that, Phillips is ace - his old one opposite the fire station is crap now.  York Road is not as good as it was two or three years ago.  If in town Superfry is ok - don't go to North Star by the traffic lights on Ferndale Road, made that mistake a couple of years ago, since got a big fat zero on hygiene!

Chips at York Road are a bit hit and miss now. The fish is always great though

You know when you have a good chippy when people are prepared to queue out of the shop in the pouring rain.

I go to Robin's regularly. The best, and reasonably priced, chippy in Swindon.

And amazing portions as well - one portion of chips is more than enough for me and my "advisor"!  His haddock hardly fits on the plate!!

Gravy on chips is the fucking bollocks. With a spring roll as well (also smothered in gravy), you've basically achieved Nirvana in a poly tray. Oh and yes you DO put salt and vinegar on to finish it off as well, obviously

Yes same man - was the Frying Fish (?) but they wouldn't renew his lease so he moved to Gorse Hill.  Bet the people who took it over cannot believe how trade has dropped off!
