http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4157892.stm

I said at the time that it wouldn't surprise me if the police weren't telling us the whole truth, lo and behold it would seem as if the police managed to get most of the reasons used to justify the shooting wrong. I do wonder what the response would have been if it was a white man who had been shot on that train, I imagine there would have been far more outrage.

For the record, that picture pretty much proves he wasn't wearing a padded jacket.

I've never trusted the police and this hardly fills me with confidence.

Intelligience fuck up!, those who pulled the trigger were badly let down by whoever was advising them at the time of the incident.

I disagree with that statement SY.  I do not think public reaction related to the colour of the fella's skin.

I know they messed up but hopefully this will put a message across to those prospective terrorists that if they do want to try and cause trouble, they will be shot instantly and not given warnings/threats etc. first.

I sounded like a right conspiracy theory nut in that post, let me rephrase  Cheesy

Clearly, the police got their information wrong. They've already admitted that they were trailing the wrong person but it's what happened afterwards which concerns me, if the justification they used for shooting him was false then how do you justify it? I don't blame the officers involved, they were simply doing their job but somewhere the information has changed and I think that needs to be addressed.

Alternatively, it could be a giant hoax like those Iraqi prisoners pictures were in one of the tabloids awhile ago.

I was a bit harsh about the police as well, as Birdy says they do their best.

"He picked up a free newspaper, then ran down the stairs when he saw the train coming...."   And he had a demin jacket on, not a winter warmer with wires hanging out the back!!  And he was sat down when they shot him.

Fucking hell, poor fella!  Very sad story that.

Fuck that, the police believed he was a terrorist.  If he had been and the inteligence had not got him and he then blew up a load of your family you would all be on here blaming them.

Police and like referee's they will never be agreed with.

If the Police genuinely believed he was a terrorist why did they allow him to board a bus?

To be honest they followed him for ages, they could have took him down(without killing him) way before he got to the Tube station.

they were monitoring his home and he left, boarded a bus, then headed to a tube station.

at the time of the incident an eye witness said he saw the bloke run past looking shit scared, then 3 unmarked police pinned him down, another jumped on him and shot him. why they needed to shoot him when he was already restrained i don't know, i guess they could have thought he was going to detonate something.
