Sounds far worse than the earlier downplaying of the incident:

When I heard Jens Todt was at the bedside I thought we were not being told the severity of what has happened.

Eminent brain surgeon there because of massive swelling to the brain. This really does not sound promising.  No

I guess it goes without saying that here's hoping he makes a swift recovery but the news so far doesn't look good...

Sounds pretty bad from the reports. Kind of reminded me of the first reports after Diana's car crash.

Hope its not as bad as it appears.

Schumacher is a fighter.  I sincerely hope he pulls through.

Schumy was my original sporting hero.

Schumy was my original sporting hero.

I'd go so far as to say only.

He was why I continued to watch F1 and when he retired, I stopped watching.

My sister is really upset about this, she watched F1 with me and became addicted and a proper die-hard fan of Schumacher. She used to go to Silverstone every year and camp out.

For a few years, pre-9/11 I think, a friend of a friend got her tickets for the paddock and one year she met him. She saw him leaving a cafe of sorts and walked up to him as he was getting on his moped. She touched his arm, became tongue-tied and managed to say, "Michael," before she started bawling! I don't even think she got his autograph!

No one will know how bad it is untill(and if) he wakes from the coma...some people are in a coma for weeks wake up and incredibly are not to bad....small bleeds and swellings can lead to false hope and when the person awaikes they are in a bad way...it really is in the lap of the gods with this kind of injury.
Lets hope that he isn't to bad.

Been through this with my dad (only he hit his head on a lorry doing 50  Doh). Hopefully he makes a full recovery and retains most of this personality, for his wife and kids' sake.
