Has died age 89.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23375452

Famously played 17 minutes of a cup final with a broken neck, shows up today's footballer who wouldn't play with a broken toe nail.

RIP

Yep,a triumph for a man who had thousands of City fans baying for his blood when he first signed after WW2.

He won the Iron Cross as a paratrooper so it was no suprise that many fans was against City signing him.

He buckled down.....and the rest is history.

An amazing story...RIP.

Unkind of Lee to be criticising his recent performances at this time:

Quote
Francis Lee, the former Manchester City player who later became the club's chairman, said: "He was one of the all-time great keepers.
"I knew Bert wasn't keeping well for the last six months but it has still come as a shock that he has passed on.

Saw one person on Twitter lead with "Bert Trautmann has died at the age of 89...he'll probably be able to run that off"

Obviously I'm way too young but he has a great life story.
