City wise, Melbourne - it's got the lot. A stunning city to look at, lively and chilled out in equal measure, with beaches galore. Otherwise, Tavewa in the Yasawa Islands in Fiji. Brilliantly remote, a thatched hut to stay in for a week, cold showers from rain water...bar the odd sea snake and hammerheads to keep us company whilst we snorklelled, which provided a few moments of excitement, it was idyllic.

Unsurprisingly I'm generally happiest anywhere in Italy... Particularly fond of Rome as well as Viareggio in Tuscany, Taormina in Sicily and the Aeolian islands.

Also Paris. Simply amazing (just watch where you're treading...!).

I absolutely love Singapore too as a place, but the "small world syndrome" is a little too prevalent for my liking, I prefer a little anonymity!

If you want to avoid crowds in lakes go to the western fells,  harder to get to so less day trippers had some great times in Buttermere,  2 good pubs campsite,  peace, fells and lake - bliss.

Hawes in dales is lovely too, and has the Wensleydale Creamery and Shop/museum. Hills, beer and cheese what more do you need!

On the same theme, the drive to Wasdale Head (pub at the end) is stunning. Love the lakes.

The walk/climb onto helvellyn from the wythburn church is lovely, buttermere is superb have been many times. The kirkstone pass towards Ullswater is great too. A climb onto great gable gives stunning views to scafell pike and wast water.

Lovely although the food and beer at the pub is extortionately priced, that's what you get with a monopoly.  Once got threatened to be thrown off the campsite there for being too noisy,  we were bring so noisy that my missus was going to sleep in the tent next to us and didn't hear a thing.... bloody national trust!
