How do I find and IP address

Any idea how I find an IP address that an email has been sent from?

Open email, right click the mail and if your mail proggy is similar to Opera you should have an options box open up, look for View all Headers and cllick it

Thanks, found it.  Have to say it is shockingly easy to trace exactly where an email has come from.  Quite glad in this case.

Make sure you understand the headers properly before making any accusations, as certain info in them can be faked.

I wouldn't view the results as gospel even when using a professional tool to do the analysis.

Yeah, Im not making any accusations on it.  Just giving some people some information.  Someone who used to work for the band Im with bears a grudge, and we've narrowed down the ip address to his hometown.  Which is nice.

Spent a very enjoyable afternoon being a private eye on this!

Geo-location from IP address is extremely hit or miss. Depends who the ISP is and which one of their servers you come 'out' of their network at and into the WWW. For instance, my IP often says I'm in London.
