I'm thinking of taking in the sites and sounds of LA at some point later in the year, probably October. My friend and i are staying in Vegas for 10 nights, but he's not too keen on going to LA, so i shall be going for an internal flight to LAX, spending roughly 5 days there, before flying home.

This is just a general post, just to ask if anyone has been out there, so can tell me what's worth seeing, where's best to stay and anything else a bright eyed English tourist may need to know. Any information would be very gratefully received :kisskiss:

I went to Vegas 2 years ago,  staying in The Aladdin hotel which was very nice. We went to watch the England Vs Turkey QF at an English pub in a huge Hummerzine, the game kicked off at 10am and it was 90 degrees, much better than The Walkabout im sure you'll agree. Vegas is brilliant and you will never experience anything like it, you wont find one single clock there as the place never sleeps. Go to the top of the Stratosphere hotel as the view is amazing, breathtaking views.

According to the old dears LA was a shit hole and they got warned about walking down Hollywood boulevard, which is where the stars have their hand prints on the walkway.

Just got back last week from LA/Vegas. Although I was there for a wedding and staying about an hour north of LA I did do a few day trips. The best bit is the coast as the beaches are great especially Venice Beach, Santa Monica and Malibu. The city itself is not that great and you will spend most of the time stuck in traffic jams on the freeways. Universal Studios is worth a visit but don't expect the rides to be anything like Alton Towers. Hollywood you can drive through in 5 minutes and Beverly Hills in 30 minutes.

I wasn't in Vegas that long so can't add too much to Spuddy's comments except that I was given a secret tip that the best swimming pool is in the Hard Rock Cafe.
