Anyone got it? I'm thinking about it and just wondered if anyone had any experiences?

Just got my new TV today and want to make the most of it.

Is you TV HD? If so there isn't that much HD content on there right now - BBC HD, a little bit of ITV is in HD, that's about it.

Or has your new TV got freesat built in? If not then you may want to wait until the Freesat+ PVRs come out before deciding to invest.

Other than that, look at the channels you can get and see if you'd watch them. If you already have freeview DTT I don't see much advantage unless you want a bit of HD:

Cheers Batch, yes TV is HD, and I don't have an aerial point in my room which is why it would be of benefit. I think installing it is around £80 and a box is £150ish.

I was sure there was a ITV HD channel as well. might have dreamt it.

Well, ITV HD is more an interactive service (red button) than a full channel - it's not broadcasting 24/7, rather just when they have something HD to how (football). Currently ITV HD is not available to Sky boxes.

I guess only you can decide. If I didn't have an aerial and didn't want subscription TV I might go for it, some HD is better than none! FYI I think I saw freesat PVR would be around £299 on release.

I'm gonna keep my eye on it and maybe see what the market for boxes is like in the new year.

Hi

Apologies for the stupid question, but I'm looking to install a TV in my little lads room. We've got a redundant sky+ box and I have enquired about freesat. Sky have quoted me £25 for a viewing card, which is fine and dandy but I wanted to know if the viewing card can go in the CI slot on the TV or if the box needs to fixed up?

This is the TV spec if needed.

ITV HD has it's own channel now on Freesat. I've had the freesat+ for nearly a year and it's ok. Loads of info here.

Think I'll get a Freesat box at some stage with hdd. She keeps nagging me to record proggies on ITV and BBC but it's a pain in the butt to move my big dish to 28.2e. I've no HD tele yet either and won't get one till the crt breaks

Don't forget if you wish to record while watching another channel you will need to upgrade your LNB to a twin or quad output
