Been with Orange for a few years now and quite happy so have no burning desire to change network for no particular reason.
They have offered me 1200 mins/ month and unlimited texts for £30 month for iPhone 3G 8gb or £45 month if i have the 3GS 16gb.
Thoughts anyone, is the 3GS worth the extra £15 a month?

3G to 3GS was a minor update - faster processor, video camera, digital compass. Depends if you would use those features, though the extra 8Gb storage would most likely come in very handy.
The next iPhone will be released in the summer (June or July) and apparently it is going to be a major update.

ignore billy the luddite.
you can get most of the 3gs features on a 3g phone if you jailbreak it. unless you really need extra storage or are morally opposed to hacking phones, save yourself the £15 per month and spend it on fluffy kittens and stuff

I was bought a pay and go. 3g 16gb. Free internet and text messages, and only top up £15. Not sure how much the phone was to buy mind.
Although there's no difference between 3g and 3gs (unless in big cities like London), you'll find you'll use the size up quite quickly. 16gb is probably the best bet, but if you haven't got many songs/videos/apps then 8gb should suffice.
Don't forget if you do Jailbreak it invalidates the phones warranty.

Won't do any harm to wait, my contract just ended with O2 and I switched to a monthly sim only for £15 less a month. Worst case is you'll be able to pick up a 3GS a lot cheaper once the new version is released, which will most likely be June at the latest.

I'm guessing super fast data browsing, which you can only get in certain areas.
