Just out of interest my PS3 is plugged into my tv via an HDMI cable. The tv is then connected to my surround sound via a Digital Optical cable. Will the sound when i play my PS3 come out Dolby surround style?

HDMI is capable of carrying DD sound. So in theory yes.

In practice it depends whether your TV will transfer incoming HDMI to the optical or no. IIRC your TV has freesat, so it MAY only carry the freesat sound out on the optical.

Without the TV model and some digging in the manual I am afraid you will just have to suck it and see.

Dont use the freesat as we have no dish, just use freeview, and that works fine through the surround. Ill delve into it further, cheers batch.
