Was lucky enough to have this chosen for a book of poems that was printed a few years ago,ive always admired Wilfred Owen who was a poet during his days in WW1,i find it hard to comprehend what those men went through remembering they didnt have a choice like our soldiers today...you went to war and shot fellow human beings and if you refused during service you were shot by your own for cowardice.
I know its tomorow but ime hoping we will be celebrating a good win but i for one will spare a few moments and remember that they helped us do the things we take for granted today,i think ime right in saying a few Town players payed the ultimate price(Freddie Wheatcroft?)
So hope you dont mind me putting down these words i penned a few years back.

                                              WAR.

One man's horror.
One man's dream.
One man's glory.
Another man's scream.

One man's medal.
One man's legs.
One man takes aim.
Another man begs.

One Man's smiling.
One man cries.
One man lives.
Another man dies.

One man's honour.
One mans beat.
One man's won yards.
Anothers lost feet.

One man loses.
One man wins.
One war's finished.
And another begins.

I was listening to the radio the other morning. An old man was recalling asking his grandad who won the (1st world) war.

"Nobody wins in war" was the answer.
