How hard is it to replace them yourself ?

5 of my watches all need new batteries, but I am fucked if I am paying 6 quid a chuck to get them all replaced.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to do it themselves and where to purchase the little blighters

Thanks

Fred

depends what type of watch mate, most basic watched just take off the backing (best off using one of those tiny screwdrivers, and the battery is on top, just undo the little clip, and bobs your uncle, again, it depends what type of watch it is, i know waterproof watches have casings which you need to remove first i think

also if you do it yourself, try not to touch the battery with out fingers, best using tweezers

Depends if they're all different sizes though which is quite possible.

You can get it done at Timpsons next to Johnsons dry cleaners and they give you a lifetime guarantee with the batteries. It was relatively cheap, I think about £12 from memory

Well my point of view is I wouldn't want to fuck a watch up permanently by messing around with it. If it's cheap enough give it a go, but if it's an expensive watch then it may just be better to pay for someone to do it.

Fred,

I had a really nice watch screwed up by trying to do this on the cheap from a market stall. I'd never do it again. Try the shop in Gorsehill, I reckon the bloke in there would do you a deal for a number of items. He's done mine a couple of times over the years. Jewellers would be the most expensive option.

Do you wear them all at once, spiv style ?

The real pisser is the waterproofing (unless you don't care about it). Some have to go back to be factory fitted in my experience. Most jewellers/stalls say they can do it, but tag on "waterproofing not guaranteed' .

You can get a watch case opener off ebay, and watch batterys can't be too hard to fins on t'internet. Or Maplin may even have some.
