It'a Rover, therefore shit. And new parts will be non-existant or very expensive.

Check for head gasket failure, ie mayo on dipstick and in coolant. Make sure cambelt has been renewed as car is 5 years old.

My little one (ZR) was fine. I've heard that head gaskets can be a problem, but other than that there's nowt wrong with 'em.

My dad had a ZR when they first came out. Head gasket went when the bloke was driving down the M40 to deliver it to him. Got fixed then the fucker went again.

The MG ZR looked like grandad had driven his Rover 200/25 series into Halfords, 'boyed it up' and then driven away again.
The engines were notorious for fucking up, much like Peugeot and Citroens are for dodgy electrics and head gaskets.
