3 training sessions and 20 minutes of football, jailed for 8 years and they are expected to pay him £14K!?

Ridiculous!

I'd say £34k a year for a non-league footballer is pretty immoral anyway, and I daresay there'd be bonuses on top of that.

Morally I agree, but he won't have a leg to stand on.

The FA said because Sestanovich was arrested after he signed for Grays, the club were obliged to honour his contract until he was actually convicted of an offence, under contract law.

This bit. They gave him a contract and they should pay it. If you can suddenly start not paying people because of moral obligations than meh.

Although I don't get why if he'd only managed a few training sessions they couldn't have sacked him earlier. It's not really very clear.

I can't see how he managed to keep....

The club claim that Sestanovich originally told them he was being held on remand for motoring offences, but once the nature of the charges became known they served him with 14 days' notice.

...that lie going for 5 weeks - 14 days = 3 weeks? Surely you wouldn't be held on remand for 3 weeks for motoring offences.

He's done nothing wrong until convicted and was under contract until terminated.
They are obligated to pay him - end of story.
