We never used to have hold music, you'd just get a "ring ring" tone.

Now we've got the ghey music from the telly advert.

I think a company needs to get some balls and do the following.

-Record all calls
-Find the most incompetent, thickest and uncaring adviser
-Find a call in said advisers calls with an extremely angry customer
-Amongst those find one where the adviser fails to help in anyway and completely ignores angry man/woman.
-Where the caller goes ballistic and the adviser ignores all requests and just says they can't help and eventually explains to the customer that "we're going around in circles now, i'm terminating this call" and hangs up.

This call should be played repeatedly while someone is on hold. It'd psyche that person up for a fight when they eventually come back to you.

On a note of incompetence, has anyone ever booked a hotel with hilton over the phone?

My adventure yesterday. Phone hotel, hotel transfers call to US call centre, US call centre calls UK hotel (you just spoke to) to check for space, US agent books room. The whole process took 20 minutes, most of it on hold while US agent called UK hotel, and i wasn't even waiting to get through. Cunts.
