~ From this point on, STFC will be referred to as the Party. The Board of the Party is now called the Ministry of Truth (Newspeak: Minitrue]

~ The Party's slogan has been painted on the side of the County Ground:
"War is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength"

~ The Party's badge has been changed to include the slogan
"magnus frater est vigilo" [Newspeak: Big Brother is watching]

~ Our sponsors for next year are the Thought Police. You do not need to know the full details of the deal, but they include Telescreens, Microphones and Informers to watch every Party fan in the state of Oceania.

~ Morning exercises will be given over your Telescreens by Mike Bowden. Laziness will not be tolerated. Special effort should be given to the "hip rotation" exercise and thoughts or comments about Mr Whippy taking a shit will not be tolerated.

~ You have no reason to question the Party. Anybody who does not abide by this rule will be sent to the Ministry of Love [Newspeak: Miniluv].

In the early 70's I thought 1984 was going to be well scary, especially after David Bowie's Diamond Dogs....1984 also spawned my favourite piece of graffiti,  on a building site fence in London.....1976 makes 1984 look like 1967......it was just at the start of punk.

 What we got was a depressing wasteland of Thatcherite induced mass unemployment, industrial confrontation and STFC at its lowest ebb....playing out to crowds of < 2000.  

  We also got the decision to change the Articles of Association at the club, which has led directly to the mess we now find ourselves in.
