The point is they have council and local MP's supporting them. Something Swindon doesn't.
Not quite true, the council have had in place for over 30 years a plan to have a professional football team in the town.
Options were to either build up an existing team (Milton Keynes City), or sit on their laurels and wait for something to happen.
If the council had been active at the time of putting this wish into the town plan all those years ago, then they could have easily had a league club which the town could have called their own, and the support to go with it. See Wimbledon themselves and Rushden more recently to show that clubs can come from no-where into the league.
Now the then existing MK City are no more.
As it stands the council were not interested in putting in the effort for a long haul development of a club, and let the dream of league football disapate over the years. Then in the 90s the council were again keen to bring football to the people of Milton Keynes by trying to attract Luton to the town.
Move forward another few years and we are where we are now.
The council IMO actually care very little about the football club, and are very aware of the earning potential for the town that a club COULD bring, the fact that it wont in the long run seems to have passed them by.
Milton Keynes residents simply will not take to the club.
