Every now and again, Swindon remind us why we support them, they play attractive football and get the job done. Maybe just maybe, that'll happen today.
I'd settle for a repeat of 65, when I first saw an STFC v Mansfield game at the CG.....we won 6-2.....Keith East scored 5. Still the highest individual scoring feat I've witnessed.
Sturrock would have loved it.....two wingers Eric Weaver and particularly Don Rogers providing the crosses and East the finishes all from inside the box.....back then the formation was essentially 3 at the back.....3 in midfield and 2 up front....and 2 wingers. The wingers rarely dropped back beyond the half way line.
Mansfield's 2 were scored by Bill Curry....he was a type of his time, very clever striker with lower division sides....who you could buy for 10K...scored around 200 goals for a variety of clubs. You just don't get lower div players that good any more.
