Off tomorrow on a 3 day trip of debauchery.  Has anyone any experiences/tales/recommendations on things to do?

Been plenty of times before but always like to have a good wonder off the tourist trap and Englishhhhhhh stag do’s, sex tourists and your tiresome dopers.  So far we’ve got a trip to the Heiniken museum to top-up from the night before, little Argie meat restaurant (portions no one will ever consume of pure slathering MEAT flesh),  Paddys bar in the RL where we’re friendly with the Finnish bar staff and the usual tourist jaunts and haunts but looking for something a little different.

Any club recommendations outside of Liedesplien as well (sp?) appreciated.

Heineken is a good shout, been there twice as its pretty cheap considering you get a couple of beers along the way and a little present at the end. Don't bother with the stupid horse ride thing if they still have that.

Aside from that I can't really remember what we did. Van Gogh museum is a must imo.

On my 21st birthday we got appropriately stoned out of our faces in the Bulldog hostel and set about finding a nice restaurant to cure our munchies and celebrate my coming of age. We must've walked around for about an hour in a predictably confused and indecisive manner. Eventually, all worn out, we settled on a nice Thai place.

The meal went abysmally. I have no idea what I ate. It was quite a nice and expensive restaurant with elderly clientelle and we looked completely out of place. I've never been so lean in my life and the waiter knew what was going on. We weren't looking forward to the long walk home but when we stepped outside we saw we were on the same street as the hostel, one block down. Fuck knows where we'd been walking all the time.

Hillstreet Blues is my favourite coffee shop, could spend hours reading the walls.

I also love pinball after a couple of J's so anywhere with pinball is top quality.

Don't spend too much on DVDs Dazza.

can't remember what it's called but the floating chinese restuarant ("sea palace" maybe?) near the train station is superb, good food at reasonable prices.

Try the mushrooms Cheesy   Central Amsterdam must be one of the worst places in the world to be out of your head on mushrooms.

I've been twice but I don't really recall any names of places I went.  Anne Frank's House I thought was suprisingly big(I know that's not the point).  I also had a friend with me who's not that aware of anything outside his own existence shall we say, who asked me the classic, 'why did they want to kill Anne Frank then?'  Cue me trying to explain the history of anti-semitism Cheesy

try NYE when the streets are packed - rather paranoia-enducing. the bloke we chatted to at barnies the day after (excellent food and coffee shop) couldn't believe we'd done them, very silly in retrospect.
