I just got a netgear wireless router. But having problems with my usb wirless adapter, to set up another PC online.

I installed the software given and it puts a icon on my desktop. I then try to open the shortcut, but nothing happens. It just wont load.
The program should run and tell me to insert my adapter. But I can't get it to work without running the program some how. I tried inserting the adapter but nothing really happens.

I had windows 98 on this PC before, if thats anything to do with the problem?

My adapter is: Netgear 54 mbps wireless usb adapter WG111.
And it's the one that is compatible with my router.

Help.. please.

First off see if you can navigate to the router's config page: 192.168.0.1

Is it still windows 98? or have u upgraded.  What type of encryption has the wireless router got on it? WPA or WEP?

Another problem could be that you are selecting the Windows wireless icon, but you need to look for the netgear one.
