.....its now 25 games ago that we lost a match in Div 4.....21 games in 85/86  4 in 06/07.

This is the best start to a season since 63/64, when we were first promoted to the second flight, started that season with 6 wins on the spin, then a couple of draws at Man City and Leeds and 2 defeats in the opening 15 games...we finished 14th......our average gate of 18,000+ was in excess of the likes of Man City, Soton and Pompey.

The last time we won our first 2 away games  was 97/98 when victories at Reading and Stoke led to a period when we topped the second flight in November after 17 games....the last time we topped a league after a significant number of games.

That was undone by losing to Stockport County, and its been more or less downhill since.

We finished 18th......our average gate of 10,000+ was 3000 in excess of O*frod who finished above us, the last such occasion.
