I went a couple of years ago, was in a place called Hotel Ibis.  5 mins from Eiffel Tower, nice enough, can't remember the exact price but it was very reasonable indeed.

Thats the sort of thing i was looking for. I've stayed in Ibis hotels here in Britain and they're good enough. French bastards don't do Travel Inns do they?!

Hotel Ibis, spit spit spit.  hate that chain with a passion, always full of the worst Frenchy attitude you can muster.  Although, any Hotel in Paris is liekly to be full of this anyway!

Try staying in a branded hotel slightly out of the centre.  I used the Holiday Inn near Montparnasse I think.  It's easy to get around on the Metro, so it doesn't really matter where you stay to some extent.

Holiday Inn near Montparnasse, is that the one on the banks of the Seine?  Looked nice if it was as I was looking at staying there last year.  Decided against Paris in the end though.

I have to agree there Yeovil.  I don't like going into restaurants there either coz they seat you so close to other people, you have no privacy.  It is a lovely city itself though, very romantic, just a shame about the french  Cheesy I would go again.
