GK - Flowers

RB - Kerslake
CB - Tiler
CB -  Todd
LB -  Coleman

RM - Gray
CM - Carrick
CM - Webb

CF  - Wegerle
CF -  Rideout
CF -  Davis

Tongue-in-cheek I take it Reg-Andy Gray instead of James Milner??Wegerle instead of Henderson and NEIL WEBB instead of anyone?!

I'm judging it on potential, (it is a dream team)....Webb was a seriously good player at his best, sadly a serious injury playing for England, largely did for him.

Andy Gray...was capped by England, so a midfield of Webb Carrick and Gray is an international class pick.

Wegerle is at least two classes better than Henderson. Better golfer to.

Does anyone know why Andy Gray was capped?Same reason as Mark Barham I spose.Wegerle did go on to be a good player but he was pretty ordinary for us.

He was on trial at the start of the season with a view to a loan move which then became permanent after King signed him.

Meh, I was stuck for a striker and as he wasn’t technically our player pre-season I’m calling a loan of sorts!

I thought Wegerle did ok for us. Scored a good individual goal against Bradford at home; played well at Hull away in the 4-1 win. I saw all 7 games he played and although I have to be honest and say I can't remember much about them now (it was 18 yrs ago!) my memory tells me from the time I was impressed; would have liked to have signed him.

Wegerle was highly impressive, but he was a bit of a maverick talent, would try dribbling the ball out of defence, and I don't think Lou trusted that sort, he'd have also cost a bit.

I think Luton paid 80k for him to Chelsea although I could be wrong with that figure. And when they sold him on a couple of years later they got about 1 million for him I think.

But you're right about Macari; probably wouldn't have wanted to sign him anyway.
