Had the classic defeat the other day on a nice freeroll (few players, big prize)

Call a pre-flop all in with pocket aces. blokes got K9 (blatent effort to bluff the blinds). Cunt hit's trip K's.

It happens, but it's still annoying.

I voted for luckier than average. I might not always believe that when everything seems to be going wrong, but it's more about the constant things in life - family, friends, etc.

Bastard when that happens that's why I'll always try not to go for all in's unless in the later stages or if it's not going to eat my stack.

When you play it right like that though you can't complain.

Managed a 30th place the other day in a 5,000 free roll to win a seat at the world pokey tourney.  Uni friend has just managed a 100k win as well the bastard.

Best I've seen is my old housemate who graduated in july. He went back home to live with his parents, signed up to job seekers and just played poker for the next 7-8 months. Just set off on a nine month world travelling trip with  his winnings.

He did it my getting good at the cash games. You've got to have the bottle though, I'd chatted to him on a few occasions when he was down a few grand over a couple of weeks. He was good enough that over the long period he was up. Fair shout to him, and it makes me feel good when he comes down to visit and I rinse him out in a game with a few mates - but to be honest it's only becuase that he's been betting massive amounts online and our £5 tourney he doesn't give a shit.
