Looks like I may be leaving the comfort of Mother's nipple next month and moving into a penthouse apartment.
I have just binned my old all in one ancient stereo system and need to get a impressive replacement on a budget as I have to pay for a plasma, and a bed to sleep on.
I am clueless when it comes to buying systems and the like so some suggestions would be appreciated.
Right what I want is a surround sound malarky that will hook up through PC, DVD, PS2 and TV. Also has to be something that will store the old MP3's as turning on the old PC and waiting 10 seconds is just to much hard work. If I could sync/play the old iPod through it as well it would be a bonus as well as sync MP3's from the PC, if that's not to greedy.
On top of that it has to look super cool.
mucho ta

you forgot to say how much bunce you've got to splash out on it....
any decent surround sound amp will hook up to the sources you mention very easily (including the ipod - i do it when back at home), its just a case of getting the correct cables.
you'd cut a fuckload off the price if you missed out on the mp3 storage factor, surely the pc and ipod will be enough!? i prefer to have all my music in one place (ipod) and then cd's for backup.
tell me the price and i'll have a scout round, just about to have an essay-handing-in celebratory schmoke mind so it could take a little while

Cheers bud!
No idea what I need to really need to be spending I suppose it's like anything you can spend as much as you have to throw at it.
Just go for the best looking sort of mid-range deal that will meet the above. Scrap the MP3's I'll just use the old iPod for that then.
My ears probably couldn't tell the difference anyway!

Superb they look just the job.
Think I will go with the old Denon looks sweet as and should do just the job reading the specs.
The Pioneer looks grand but I don't have a scoob so I couldn't tell the difference for the price.
Cheers chief!

denon is the dogs when it comes to stereo equipment. I have the little M31 cd player and the quality is superb. slowly upgrading it so when i get a bigger place all i will need is the surround sound and an amp. Thing is you don't pay cheap prices for quality. my cd player was £350 All come as sepperates too so looks even nicer.
