What pisses me off is the sexism in religions such as Islam.

Unfortunately alot of religion is stuck in the time it appeared.

I'm not religious, but my Dad was raised a devout hardcore mad Catholic (that's Ireland for you) and my Mum's a bit religious, but both my parents decided that despite being baptised into Catholicism they wouldn't force a religious upbringing on me. I'm thankful for that.

My views have changed over the past few years, when I was younger - and stupider - I was very much an atheist and refused to even accept the remote possibility of God existing, but as I grew up a bit and went through some tougher times in my life, whilst I didn't become religious at all I became open the possibility. I now consider myself agnostic but unlikely to convert to religion at any time.

Also, my best friend throughout secondary school and beyond is a Vicar's son and his Dad is one of the nicest people I know. Never once has he bought religion up in conversation with me and is very relaxed about everything, although I do feel slightly frightened of using 'Jesus' as a curse in his house :]

Overall I don't really have a problem with religion, people are welcome to believe what they like. In some ways I'm envious, having something to believe in gives people something to fall back on and stuff, I don't have that and sometimes wish I did. Mostly I'm glad that my parents left me to my own devices and I've come to my own conclusions about religion, one I'm happy with. That's not to say that religion is good though, because so many war's and so much death has been caused in the name of various God's only a fool could say religion is the only true good in the world.

i think religion gives people security in their life. A bit like Alcoholics Anomynous does to those trying to stay sober

I am a christian too. I went to a religious primary school, so when I was younger I really believed in god because we were made to. Smiley
But as I'm getting older, and Now have proper r.e lessons at school I don't think I feel that strongly about it.Like somebody said, If there is a god.why do really bad things happen where thousands of people lose their lifes Sad

Oooh, controversial Simon P!

I, like Sade, was made to go to a religious primary school. It was Catholic and I hated it. Filled my head full of crap and now I suppose I'd be classed the same as SY. Agnostic.
