Things genuinely do "change" though BD. It's not hard to understand that. I have no idea why people get so pissy about it. Even if serious or just a bit of fun. I am doubting that your source knows the full story, and a lot of what you’re fed will be educated guesswork at best

And he reason you (and others) get stick for it, is not only because it makes you look silly but also because it’s unfairly setting negativity among the fanbase and creating a negative atmosphere. Your Curran ‘fact’ was proof of this, as was the social media maker-uppers rumour about grant starting at the weekend. It sets unrealistic expectations and fuels negativity.

Share your rumour and you get 1 point if it’s right. Get something wrong, get deducted 3 points. No points if it appears in a local rag to National publication before you submit the rumour.

I can take rumours it's the "ohhh I know something you don't know" that bothers me. Especially when it's wrong 99% of the time. You can be fine with it, it has just always got to me.

Only thing on par with the ‘I know something you don’t know’ is the ‘I knew that was going to happen’ after the event, with no previous mentioned of it what so ever.

Like that time I posted about a heinous act of disrespect a player did at the Christmas party and another poster reiterated that he’d also heard about said (completely fictional) incident.

Doesn’t bother me in the least. I know someone who has a lad in the youth team and he told me snippets - some were right, most were not. Nature of the beast.

Fucking hell ladies, you either want rumours or you don't want rumours, make your minds up.  I didn't realise that there was a set of rules akin to the Brexit deal as to what constitutes a rumour and what doesn't.

Of course there are rumours of shit going on, the mistake Cowley has made is dipping his toe in and getting it chomped off.  Like Twitter, these days on here you have to either go all in, or stay quiet, the majority stay quiet and don't even intimate anything is going on because it's not worth it.  The ones that get bitten are those that dip the toe or talk in riddles and emojis but don't give all info.

Those that stay quiet have learnt their lesson, but as far as rumours go everyone should stick to Tansmedia

There's a difference between rumours and presenting false information as facts but I suppose we are in the fake news era so whatever floats your boat. If I see obvious bullshit I will point it out and if that's an issue then there is an ignore button to the left. Writing utter garbage as if it was true is facebook group level shit IMO.

Passing on stuff you've heard is one thing. Passing on 'facts' that don't transpire is another. Getting defensive when called out on it is another thing still.

It is VERY easy to do it right but people choose not to, and here we are... Pointless posts (including this one) on a meaningless discussion that was easily avoidable.

Just to be sure, I am by no means objecting to anybody passing on any rumours of any kind. Quite the opposite - I'm all for it (It's the entire bleedin' point of this thread afterall). Rather I'm just making an observation that we could be actually discussing rumours (which we should be), rather than bickering about them. But hey ho, the internet will internet and this same discussion will be ongoing next year, and the year after that, and so on.

Anyway.

There is no doubt at all that several people know people who work at/coach/play for/AN Other at the club and naturally things leak out in conversations, thats human nature.

We have no idea at all if the people that speak to any of us fans are actually telling the truth or being led down the garden path in entirely a different direction, deliberately or otherwise.

Some of these staff/players etc may have an axe to grind against the owners or management so may even themselves disort the truth to suit their own agenda, they may not.

Who is to say that the club themselves are not telling players/staff things deliberately knowing that it will come out in the public domain? and then they will know who it is spreading the rumours.

We just don't know at all and never will, there is often no smoke without fire with rumours but more often than not the smoke is a smokescreen rather than an actual blaze.
