Title: Audiobooks Post by: Hunk on Thursday, December 10, 2020, 17:26:49 Since some of the good folk of TEF recommended I try 'The Easy Way' to get off the fags (thanks again) I've been listening to more and more audio books. Currently on 'Alan Partridge: We need to talk about Alan'. Damn funny. What are you listening to?
Title: Re: Audiobooks Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, December 10, 2020, 17:47:11 I’ve been an audible subscriber for years. Used to do loads of driving so great for that.
Currently listening to One Simple Idea by Stephen Key. It’s great. Title: Re: Audiobooks Post by: The Artist Formerly Known as Audrey on Thursday, December 10, 2020, 18:21:02 I’m learning French with Paul Noble

It surrounds events regarding Adnan Syed. I listened to it whilst travelling through Spain from North to South - definitely one for long drives/journeys.
Serial is a real-life investigative documentary narrated by Sarah Koenig, following the aftermath of murdered school girl Hae Min Lee. Koenig covers the thousands of documents, trial testimonies and police interrogation tapes - but something still doesn't add up. Which in turn leads her to ask herself and you the listener the simple but difficult questions; "How can you know a person’s character? How can you tell what they’re capable of?" If you've listened to it before - great but it's definitely one I could listen to again. Koenig's delivery and passion for seeking out the truth is magnetic and for me personally you're willing her to figure it out but each episode keeps you on your toes; as different or missed pieces of evidence materialise. You can listen here https://serialpodcast.org/season-one but it's available on services via Apple/Android too. I’ve listened to them as well. Not the latest Strike one as not driving as much at the moment and the previous one felt plodded a bit (I think). The nowhere man series are good as well. Might’ve only listened to 3 though. Title: Re: Audiobooks Post by: Hunk on Friday, December 11, 2020, 07:29:03 Just fired up The Dark Tower book one, probably my fave book as a nipper. Hoping it makes up for the abomination that was the film

Not the latest Strike one as not driving as much at the moment and the previous one felt plodded a bit (I think). The Strike books do feel a bit padded out, the TV series cuts all of that out, the last book is the worst for padding it out.The nowhere man series are good as well. Might’ve only listened to 3 though. The nowhere man books are a really good, the narrator really does a good job with it. Title: Re: Audiobooks Post by: Nemo on Friday, December 11, 2020, 08:39:26 Love audiobooks although the voice actor makes such a big difference for me that my favourite books are often not great on audiobook. Assuming you're using Audible, their version of The Godfather is very well read. The Partridge ones are excellently done too.

Now I don't have to commute for 2 hours a day I don't really enjoy listening to audio books so much though. |
