That we are named as Champions and promoted to L1 again.

I am not holding my breath that this will be concluded today though.

Nah been done before, they need to think of a brand new punishment.

I think it only becomes a problem when there is sale in the offing. Hopefully, after the very public shenanigans of that court appearance, it can be sorted out amicably between all the parties.

FFS they can't drag it out any longer. We'll still be trying to conlude this season next year

I sincerely hope that is just what is happening at the moment.

Now it’s out in the open I expect so. Bit embarrassing for all parties concerned. last thing you’d want to happen to something you’re keen, very keen to keep a lid on is for it to become public. I expect there is a degree of duck paddling against a strong river, looks all quiet and stable on the surface but those webbed feet are going like fuck underneath.

But the parties will have known that the proceedings (to include the recent applications for interim relief) would not be private and would be in the public domain. Also, modern dispute resolution practice essentially dictates that you try and sort out disputes before issuing proceedings.

I suppose if you have spent 12 months+ trying to get one party to deliver their commitments serious action is required, especially if said person was ploughing on.

The best I'm expecting today is EFL framework ratification.

I still reckon League 2 will need another vote if relegation is back in the mix (it should be, EFL want it)

So

The relegation issue is expected to be confirmed today that one side will be relegated to the national league BUT the club who’s been relegated is unlikely to be named today! There is a potential issue with this, some rumours have surfaced suggesting that the national league may not start 20/21 season until a couple months after EFL which could create a financial issue for whichever club is relegated from league 2!

Now being rumoured that an independent commission will vote on which team is relegated from league 2!

Assuming the league starts BCD, it would probably mean the relegated club would be comparatively better off than the one that is saved.

They're going to relegate Macclesfield. Macclesfield are a fucking basket case and have been for a while. Why run the risk of potentially breaking a fairly well-run club in Stevenage when Macclesfield are likely to go pop soon anyway?

If it does, and I wasn't taking muich notice of Div 3 back in the football season, it would be the first time they've made the PO's in the 33 years of their existence..... we've had 8 appearances. Of those 8 appearances we've only ever lost the semi once in open play, with another 2 on pens.

A 4th divisional title in our history is a fine achievement.
Some very good memories to be taken from this season, although unfinished.

Will be making the arduous commute downstairs to work with a sore head tomorrow morning.

Now follows the hope and uncertainty of making it to the new season with the club intact and part of 72 EFL clubs all good to go.

Then they both should have accumulated more points.

We're in a fucking once (hopefully) in a lifetime pandemic that has killed circa 400k worldwide. How football seasons are finished are kind of irrelevant. Some clubs might actually go bust in this fiasco and these sadsacks are whining because the season has been ended prematurely, which is in the best interests of them financially.

Its not like they are never going to play any football seasons again, just be better next time!

With League One coming to an end, Coventry City will be promoted back to the Championship as League One champions, along with Rotherham United.

Wycombe Wanderers, Oxford City, Portsmouth and Fleetwood Town will enter the play-offs for the final promotion spot, with the EFL to confirm when the play-offs will take place.

Finally Champions* or Champions, either way well deserved. Congrats to Coventry too. Both clubs have needed somewhat of a break for a while. Quite amusing that Oxford "City" miss out.

Now to focus on how football in L1&2 goes about bringing football back in some capacity.

Today we can enjoy this, even if a little weird at not being able to celebrate it properly. Will open a bottle of Elderflower pressé or something.

Championes. We Are Wellens Red & White Army  :) :pint:

Season Match Bets/Team Points Totals
If any team does not complete all its fixtures then all match bets and team points total bets involving that team will be made void - win or lose.

Just spent 40 minutes on the phone to Bet 365, argued the toss, my bet was Swindon to be promoted as champions,  and we were !,!, was told it was void because season was not completed, asked them to show me where it said that in the rules,  they couldn't,  said they would email me within 24 hrs, now 20 minutes on just checked my account,  guess what ??,   they've paid out !,  withdrawn the money already in case they change their minds,   get on the phone RD,  hopefully you'll get paid as well,  got to stand up to these bullies.
Good day all round,  championees and £270 better off - happy days.

If it does, and I wasn't taking muich notice of Div 3 back in the football season, it would be the first time they've made the PO's in the 33 years of their existence..... we've had 8 appearances. Of those 8 appearances we've only ever lost the semi once in open play, with another 2 on pens.
Poxford lost to Exeter in the POs the first season the "invincibles" were relegated back to non-League. How we laughed.

*Debbie Downer alert*

For me ever since Lockdown I have had a bit of a malaise about football, I wasn't missing it at all and I don't understand why. That feeling hasn't really changed to be honest and the announcement that we were champions was all a bit 'meh' for me. My celebration was 2 bottles of Coors light and winning £120 on a zoom poker session with friends.

Of course I add my sincere congratulations to Wellens and the players who have been superb this season and provided some memorable moments - Plymouth away, Exeter and Crewe at home stick out in my mind (I was at the latter 2 games, fantastic!).

I'm hopeful that when next season begins and fans are allowed back in I might get my STFC mojo back but I'm a bit concerned that being default Champions and promotion back to a League 1 with some big clubs in it just isn't stirring any emotions. Perhaps the whole Covid thing has sucked the life out of me (although I am more than content with my lockdown experience)

Good news that Lydon and Baudry are likely to sign new deals, if we can get Grant and Doyle signed up and Yates and Benda on loans again, I'd like to think we wouldn't struggle.

Jesus, what's the buy-in?! About 6 of us play on Poker Stars, mostly Friday nights, and I thought $11 buy-in was a bit steep.

Last week I missed the first game so entered a Joe Public one with 90 players and a $1 buy in, came 2nd. Then joined the second game with my mates and won it, was on a roll! To make up for it I'll probably end up going out first this week.

We use Pokerrr app and Zoom. Buy-ins are usually £20 but as I couldn't make next week we doubled the stakes and it was £40. however the buy-ins closed after an hour and so nobody actually bought back in!!

Can't beat the old feeling of winning in Poker at the moment!

Protracted is not the word.

I just wanted to go up and we have....a Trophy is a nice cherry on the top however hollow it is. Hopefully 4D will start coming to games a bit more!

Lots of thoughts spinning through my head.

Feel a bit for Peterborough and Tranmere who were obviously we going to win all their remaining games... :) Barry Fry and his Boss can cry me a river. :suicide:

Roll on next season...whenever that will be...but we do know that we wont be playing shite like Newport...lets hope Numb fail too....some lovely games coming up.

Sunderland, Blackpool, Ipswich, Gas and hopefully Fleetwood win the Playoffs so we get Pompey, Pox and Wycombe too.

Lovely.

Congratulations everybody!

With our 3rd "4th Tier" title win we move within 1 title win of Chesterfield, who with 4 wins have the most championships from this division.

Any future relegation from League 1 will have the silver lining of allowing us a crack at joining them on 4... assuming they don't win a 5th in the meantime.

That's good innit?!

I find this one very clearly laid out:

Valid Pint, there was plenty of space in the Arkell's when I gave a bogus Swindon postcode and watched Constable slot one in at each end of your ground.

Not sure which big match you mean, there've been quite a few in the last couple of years. Mostly us beating Prem teams like Newcastle, Swansea, West Ham, and giving City a fair go too.

I'll quickly do a poll of yellow vermin & report back on the results of which they think is their big match.

Do you work at London Oxford airport ( that's a stretch ).

I think the social distancing towards him has been going reasonably well so far meaning at times he has been resorting to pathetically replying to his own posts to try and get attention.

I heard Aunt Sally is on the sports curriculum in your area ahead of football, rugby & shinty.

Stratton and away corner of the Arkell's were sold out. Only tickets left were for 'home fans' :flaccid:

Had a great view from there of Constable scoring twice in front of the Town End, with Di Canio looking on, admiring the target that rejected him and you.

Funny you should mention the sports curriculum. My school has won just about every football competition going in Oxford and Oxfordshire for the past 6 years. An ex-pupil has just won a scholarship with OUFC,  hope to see him on the fringes of the first team soon, and there are a couple of other alumni in the younger sides. We have never met a Wiltshire school at the South West finals, Southern Finals, or National Finals.

MG has already owned him once with his last response, not sure why VP has bitten poorly a second time

Stratton and away corner of the Arkell's were sold out. Only tickets left were for 'home fans' :flaccid:

Had a great view from there of Constable scoring twice in front of the Town End, with Di Canio looking on, admiring the target that rejected him and you.

What schools that?

Matthew Arnold?

I thought you'd left school? Constable is a Wiltshire lad  ;)
Must have been space in the away end as you only brought 2,707.

they just gave me it - must have been you mate!
Then sent me this.
"We are contacting you in regard to your bet  placed on Swindon (To Win Outright England League 2 2019/20). As a gesture of goodwill and contrary to our rules we have settled this selection as a winner."
How very civilised!

Did not see mine had been paid out completely by Bet365 as well (Champions and promoted) until placing a couple of small horsey ones today. Not a world changing amount of money but every little helps as they will no doubt get it back as my selections on the horse racing front is non too good currently.

There were clearly many seats vacant. Maybe some Ol' Boys got lost on the way to the game. I have never seen Poxford fill their allocation at CG.

Testicle Scrote = Mystical Goat = OX5 = KiDlington QED

We have sold out the home areas about once in last 30 years in this fixture.  Stop digging a bigger hole, he’s done you fair and square

Oxford only used to bring 1,000 to 1,500 back in the 90s, they have brought more this century though  :)

We’ve played them 8 times in 20 years and only 4 of those were league games, 1 FA Cup and 3 Winky Wanky Cup ties.

They’ve got the mugs, tattoos, bunting, key rings, T-shirts, face masks, bedding etc to prove it!

Not that they’re obsessed you understand.

How’d that work out for Constable in the end?

I genuinely never realised he is Oxfords second all time top scorer. 1 off equalling the record.

Half of those were in non league football.... 45 league goals although worthy is hardly a stellar number.

52 if you count FA cup and LC goals during his league spell which the record go by, in league goals his total of 45 is 19 less than 6th on the list Joey Bumchum.

I can think of any other league clubs with three stands which makes them unique!

When they won in 2011 at the CG it was the first time since 1973, the seemed to have turned into a Cheltenham since mind.

Northampton and Sheff Utd would be close before ground moves/redevelopment, Aldershot always use to have just a trawler net behind one goal making them in essence a 3 sided ground, weren't boremuff 3 sided for a while too?

Bolton had 3 and a half at Burnden Park. Oxford had about 6 stands at the Manor. Hexagon to triangle  :)

Depends on what you do, Morecambe (and from recollection Fleetwood as well) are basically three sided with a pointless terrace running along one long side of the ground.

Good post Pete but I was talking about now in the EFL!.
I did go to Aldershot late 70's when we lost in the FA Cup and there must have been over 10000 in the ground. Also went to Northampton and looked at the cricket pitch in 86 when Charlie Henry scored the winner

Fair point as I only went to the old Field Mill which used to have four sides

Think Huddersfield had 3 for a little bit whilst they were building their new one too.

You should do what Arsenal did at Highbury and have a mural of fans.

Joey gave us an English gesture after his goal. Winning the league was better and his return visits to the County Ground very pleasurable.

Their current record of not losing to us is longer than their current stay in the Football League. Neither is acceptable in my book.

Trophy being presented at CG today, pics on players' instas, assume there will be some on the OS later. There best be some merch as well, I demand the right to spaff 30-odd quid on Champions 2020 tat that I will be embarrassed by as soon as it arrives!

More than enough material to put a very good seasons highlights DVD package together.
Include some of the behind the scenes stuff that the media guy took, keep as much of the production in house as possible and the club could make a few quid before the new season starts.

Depends if Ben Hooke is still working and can do the video editing etc I guess.

It's been a few years since I bought a Swindon Town coffee mug, and I'm going to need one now I've started a new job (or will, at least, when they let us in to the office).  I'm probably a little more excited than I should be at my age by the prospect of getting a 2020 Champions mug.  I'm sure, in fact, that I will end up buying several.

Still a disappointing lack of STFC League 2 Champions coffee mugs on the online shop/site. I think I'm going to have to make one myself with a red Sharpie pen.
