Title: Bastard cat
Post by: 4D on Sunday, May 17, 2020, 20:12:06
Keeps shitting in my garden  :badmood:
Got any ideas on what I can do to stop it? I've heard that moth balls can work, or putting down a piece of hose that looks like a snake. I'm actually thinking of buying a rubber snake  :)

I fucking hate cats. Serve no purpose whatsoever. Other than keeping a myriad of lonely females company at night. Amount of wildlife they each kill every year is phenomenal and people wonder why there are no birds about like there used to be. Plus they never, oh, never shit in anyone’s garden cause they always use the litter box, my arse do they. Diana .22 should do.

Try Lion dung pellets.

No idea if they work as I’ve never tried them, as I have a cat.

Cats are ace, by the way. If you don’t like cats you’re clearly a cunt.

Cats are ace. But, if you do want to deter them, bury citrus peel everywhere. They hate it.

Cats always bury their turds. If it's on the grass its a fox.

If you have a cat and you call people who don’t like them a cunt, then it is plainly obvious you’re a bigger cunt.

This is a total misconception, held mostly by owners of cats. The cats in my part of town are always shitting on the pavers used for the car parking areas. I'm sick of clearing it up after they've visited. The smell is disgusting. There's a visitors parking bay next to mine which is a favourite spot because it's sheltered by a garden wall.  :badmood:

Informally adopt a neighbours cat, seriously, twice now (both at our previous house and now here) we have had neighbours with cats and made a fuss of them when they are in our garden, cats don't soil their own territory so they don't crap in our garden and as they feel its their gaff they chase all the others out! Win win!

Bloody weasels however are another thing!

I think this thread is rather reinforcing the idea that cats are actually a pretty good judge of character,

Curry or Chili power. Not joking, sprinkle it around the edge of the garden, they wont come in.

Used coffee grinds too does a decent job of detering them.

I tried pretty much everything over the years as neighbours cats crapping in garden seemed a perennial problem and nothing seemed to work (only thing that worked in pots/planters was to put big cobble stones in that they couldn't move, but not practical for a whole garden).

We got a dog last year - not cos of cats, but because we had wanted a dog for ages and work/lifestyle change allowed it to happen - and hey presto, not seen the neighbours bastard cat in our garden since.  Still see it lurking around the area but never in our garden.

Number of dead birds in garden coincidentally gone down as well - who knew????

Best option is to get a Dog. No more cat mess and you get to have a dog.

We have 2 dogs and do not own a cat due to my allergy yet we still suffer a lot from cat poop every day as most happens overnight when the dogs are inside.

In theory a great idea in practice a bit less so in the cat deterant stakes!

But the bonus point is we have 2 dogs :)

I wish I had 2 dogs :(

To be honest, there's a huge park behind my house and I normally see cats roaming around there so I don't think they have a need to use people's gardens! We saw a cat on our fence once and the dog scared it off but that's the only instance really!

I've always preferred dogs.  But I now wish to make a sizeable donation to the Cats Protection League.

The annoying thing is it lives several doors away (the suspect) none of the close neighbour's have pets, yet it has to crap in my garden. I do chase it off if I see it outside. It hates me  :)

I really like cats. Used to not be a fan but that was parent influence growing up. The only time I had to deter them was from certain areas of a garden, like flower beds or sections of lawn.  Finely ground black (or white) pepper worked fine about once a week. What was good, the cat(s) stayed away from said areas but still came to have a mooch for a drink, a bit of a feed and some petting.

Any straight bloke who doesn't like stroking pussy needs to have a good look at themselves.

I like cats but think dogs are better..and yes they do shit in gardens and don't bury it. The fucker from next door does it in mine.

Cats never shit if your lawn is nicely cut.

If you have a problem with cats shitting in your garden beds, get yourself a good water pistol and soak moggy. He/she will not return.

I love cats by the way, they always shit in neighbours, so I don't have a problem.

Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Monday, May 18, 2020, 19:59:56
Can only personally vouch for the cut lawn theory helps but the ground pepper sprinkled in flower beds is much easier than watering the puss. Haven't got to sit like a sniper waiting for moggy for starters  ;)

Got a problem with a cat that crosses the road to come into ours every night once it is quiet.  Last week we were having a small piece of work done on the drive and when the builder packed up for the evening he swept all the sand up into a pile, fucking cat shit in it straight away!

Title: Re: Bastard cat
Post by: RobertT on Monday, June 8, 2020, 20:27:21
Cats do love a nice clean pile to shit on - hence many of the suggestions being ways to make the area seem "dirty" to a cat.

Just accept it though, the cat is trying to take you on as part of his/her team.  Resistance is futile.

Our neighbours cat is a bit of a bastard, as he loves to visit us to shit sometimes and trample on plants, but has provided a good service by killing seven baby rats over three days.

Not so good,he also killed a wood pigeon and a jackdaw recently.
