Knight in Dubai and Rouge Vif. Very good picks there Pax.

Why do you say that?  Got them from a mate.  I know fuck all about racing.

Good start with Shishkin.  As you say, hope horses ok.  Didn't look good.

Added Esprit Du Large in 2nd.

Just Rouge Vif has been a good runner for places and she duly gets 3rd today. Knight in Dubai should get 4th or better in the last.

14.10

Put The Kettle On whistles home (sorry)

Fakir D'oudairies 2nd
Rouge Vif  3rd

Lookin good for Pax!

Had 15s earlier on for Rogue Vif. 9s at post. Exchanges likely had 20s earlier. A lot of money went on her but likely for winners. e/w was the only bet for her at theat price. Still get best part of 4s though.

I had £5 on abracadabras with Paddpower who have an offer for money back if it finished 2nd, 3rd or 4th. But weirdly I’ve only got £2.50 back. Anyone else?

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2020

Gone for The Conditional in the next at 10s. BF (Beaten Fav) and CD (Course;Distance). Should be good for a top 5 here. May go as close as 2nd.

Whodareswins looks promising also for a place in what is a very open field.

It's Vindications to lose but at 5s I wouldn't be betting on the win. The Conditional now down to 6s.

Some money going on Cogry too, great price at 30s earlier. Now around 22s. Would fancy that e/w as could snatch a top 5 finish.

Personally, I don't take any notice of racing anymore. Not for me nowadays.

Did a random 3 horse acca last week which came in for £540. Banked most of it but kept £100 in the account for this week so not massively fussed

More or less broken even with the Paddypower money back offer for a 2,3,4 finish which should pay for tomorrow.

Have an EW Lucky 15 that could be good should Lord du Mesnil win the last.

A huge £35 profit for me today from a 25p each way lucky 63.

Abracadabras - Place
Notebook - Lost
Vindication - Place
Epatante - Won
Galvin - Place
Ravenhill - Won

Happy with that to start the week, pays for the bets for tomorrow and Thursday.

Nice stuff. Keep it where you're comfortable and it stays fun. The thrill is there for me even if it's 10p e/w. Couple of quid chucked around for me likewise today.

5 out of 5 (only one winner but I bet on a purely e/w strategy with horsies).

E/W Treble
14.10 3rd Rouge Vif
14.50 1st The Conditional
15.30 3rd Darver Star

Slopped that into an;

E/W Double
16.50 4th Whatmore
17.30 2nd (nearly 1st) Lord Du Mesnil

I did have a single on the 15.30 with Rachel Blackmore on Petit Mouchoir at 30s. It was either that or Honeysuckle. I knew she'd get a win today, picked the wrong race!

Anyhoo, wins today covers any betting through the week and there's still some freebies knocking around for those 60/1 e/w shots. Get the free money, turn it into your money, withdraw and beer  :)

Great strong finish by Dame de Compagnie there. Mine made a mistake when 1 or 2 or when starting to make a push for the front runners (essentially sat behind DdC most the race). Buggar.

2nd Black Tears
3rd Those Days Are Gone
4th Cracking Smart
5th Honest Vic

Waiting on 6th unless anyone saw? It wasn't Champagne Well!

Edit: 6th Bachasson

I'm dumb when it comes to each-way betting, can someone explain.
The bet was:
14:50 Black Tears
16:50 Mick Pastor
Stake was £5 ew (10 total) for a return of £908

Black Tears only managed to place so as expected the returns has reduced to £59.

Question: Do i need Mick Pastor to win to return £59 and is it manages only a place will the £59 return reduce even further?

Yeah any wins are now kind of irrelevant in terms of the "win" part as all of your bets are now on the place part. All the win parts are voided. But obvs if you have a winner it'll count for one of the place parts.

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2020
Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, 15:33:18
Yep have always backed Politologue. Beautiful horse, so glad it has finally won a big one. Deserved finish that. Bookies will have loved that, all money on Defi. Altior may not have been there but take nothing away from Politologue, that was a strong finish, where he should've been pushed harder by both Defi and Dynamite Dollars.

L15 looking good PP

I have an e/w treble in;

4.10 Easyland 4s
4.50 Palladium 5s
5.30 Queens Brook 7s

My own "outsiders" e/w L15 is;

3.50 Politologue @9s
Win (Have always backed this horse)

4.10 Neverrushacon @33s
(Would love a place. Others ahead have PU/Fell. Hard to see past Tiger Roll)

4.50 Aramax @11s
(Was either that or Tronador but 5 places is attractive for a L15)

5.30 Israel Champ @11s
(Looked at Panic Attack as worthy contender and Queens Brook is my main pick above as about time Codd had a strong win this festival. Israel Champ can make the frame. Don't let that 6th fool you. Has won listed races here. Will run well)

Totally agree. Have backed him in the National before and was placed (I think) but always the nearly horse but has always kept faith. Was a double for Mullins there too. Now that would've been a nice forecast but most forecast would be either Defi & Politologue or Defi & Dynamite.

Easyland really kicked on in the final two fences. Yet again the bookies win for both features. Gordon Elliot will not be happy with Tiger Roll or Donohue. You thought Tiger would close but Easyland just pushed on. Strong finish. Future place finish in the National but today is about Cheltnumb and what a Cross Country win.

This may have been one race too many for Tiger and I hope the horse isn't too exhausted. Can't see it winning  the Grand National off that.

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2020

Aramax holds to win the Juveniles. Got her at 11s

2nd Night Edition 16s
3rd Saint D'roux 14s
4th Recent Revelations 16s
5th Clemencia 66s

Interestingly Geraghty preferred to ride Mick Pastor over Aramax. Bet he rues that now. Mark Walsh happy though as he got to keep his regular ride and won!

Palladium PU around 2 from home when looking like it had positioned nicely. As always, horse safety is paramount and kudos to the jockey for taking Palladium out the picture. Must've sensed/felt something not right. Great win for Aramax.

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2020

Ferny Hollow wins the Bumper at 11s. Totally missed that one!

2nd Appreciate It 15/8
3rd Queens Brook 8/1
4th Third Time Lucki 16/1

Israel Champ led too early and ran out of steam. Still a decent run for an outsider.

Still not a bad day for myself and others no doubt. What did your L15 pay out in the end PP? That was looking on for some good money until Tiger Roll. Mind you, I wish I'd put Easyland into mine as I'd be looking at 3 winners on 9s, 11s and 4s @ £1 e/w L15. Would've been around £900 to play with.

Great result indeed.  I've never won more than £100!

I see that Penhill is in 3.30.  Didn't that win at Cheltenham a couple of years ago?

Won Potato race in 2017 and stayer hurdle 2018 (confess name rang a bell and I googled it!)

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2020

I haven't even bet yet. FWIW, my early pic would've been not to bet for Faugheen to win and go e/w and I would've picked Samcro. It's a similar story with Samcro for me as it is with Politologue. Always liked the horse so I'm glad it won the 1.30. Wouldn't have picked anything close in the 2.10, possibly relegate but I may have been cheeky and put that to win. 2.50 A Plus Tard I have bet on before so would have put that in again e/w. Goog work Chubbs on Min, only to be let down byyy Paisley Park in the 3.30. I bet a lot bet on Ronald Pump[ just for giggles e/w and it duly came in. I don't think I'd have got anything in that, wouldn't have bet on PP but likely Apple's Jade. I know my Uncle has bet on Bacardys before and Lisnagar Oscar I have had as a Grand National outsider (finished 9th on memory), all those a great price if betting on sentiment value alone.

Right, let's have a badgersss for the next three. Be back dreckly.

4.10  Simply The Betts
4.50  Minella Melody,
5.30  Champange Platin

Simply the Betts has just come in, 2 more to go.

Simply The Betts @10/3 holds strong after some horror at the final two for Sri Du Lac falling.

2nd Happy Diva @20s
3rd Mister Whittaker @22s

Not sure on 5th yet.

5th was Ben Dundee @10s

Ok, one winner and one place for me so an e/w L15 looking ok at present (I slipped in a Doncaster bet with Storm Goddess)

Next up;

Floressa @9s (in the L15 above)
&
Concertista @5s (in a separate L15 with the final Donny race)

4 places up for grabs in this Mares Novice.

Finally @ Chelt;

Cloth Cap @18s (in the L15 above)
&
Militarian @25s (in the other L15

Good work PP.

Concertista on drugs with a destroying finish in the Novices.

2nd Dolcita @9s
3rd Rayna's World @100
Edit:
4th Photo pending...Yukon Lil @20s

I have Garbanzo in the 5.05 @ Donc. L15 looking very good above just need a result from Militarian (a place will do) in the 5.30 @ Chelt.  :pint: :pint:

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2020
Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Thursday, March 12, 2020, 17:12:27
5.05 Donc

Garbanzo faded at the final fence when had worked hard to get up into 1st. Thought a place was on the cards but ended up fading to 4th.

1st Western Rules @4s
2nd Just Call Me Al @6s
3rd Bard of Brittany @6s

Everything on to Cloth Cap for to get 2/4 for a profitable return on that L15 in the final race at Chelt but Militarian would be great if it gets placed to give me 2 winners and a place (Storm Goddess, Concertista) on the other. Adding 5/1 (a 5th of 25s) onto those two will make a nice return but a win for Militarian...well it'd be fruity. Very fruity.

5.30 Chelt

And it's Mil....an Native who pulls away to win by just over a length.

2nd Kilfilum Cross @8s
3rd Bob Mahler @16s
4th Plan of Attack @11s
5th...

...It wasn't Militarian. Was either Deise Aba or Cloth Cap.

Edit:
5th Deise Aba @8s.

I made back my bank plus a little bit extra. A good festival. Nice to see it end with Milan Native getting their first bumper win with improving form and only young too. Might be one to watch in one of the National Races (if it goes ahead).  I was hoping that Militarian would've done something impressive having watch a few races but it was an also ran.

Hope everyone didn't spend more than they can afford and kept it fun :)

Another tough day for me.  One winner and one place just kept my head above water.

Now a huge £6.89 up on festival.

What is it with odds-on horses not just not winning but coming nowhere

I get the social media howls of outrage re festival continuing, but I think it's a good call.

Hindsight may suggest otherwise but that's hindsight for you.

Free money for me today.

L15 again:

14:10 Aramon
14:50 Monkfish
15:30 Al Boum Photo
16:10 Minella Rocco

Big on Lostintranslation for the GC and Billaway in the 1610 after a tip

And a silly EW acca on Saint Roi (1410), Thyme Hill (1450) and Santini (1530).

Bring it on - last bit of sport and gambling for a few weeks at least!

Oops a little late to post so only just got one on for the 1.30 but it is a L31 & Canadian for me. One "serious" and one "fun" with some chancer accas chucked in too.

"Serious" L31@20p e/w (plus free £1 acca @50p e/w) Pot. Rtn. c£14k L31, acca c£21k
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.30 Allmankind @4s
2.10 Elusive Belle @22s (outsider but 5 places and generous odds for a cracking horse)
2.50 Fury Road @4s
3.30 Santini @6s
4.10 Hazel Hill @6s
"Fun" Canadian@12p e/w (plus 88p acca @44p e/w (last bit of bank)) Pot. Rtn. c£10.5k Can, acca c£44.5k
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2.10 Aramon @7s
2.50 Sempo @8s
4.10 Shantou Flyer @6s
4.50 Lisp @6s
5.30 Escaria Ten @14s (my outsider, i'm certain it'll be a Gordon Elliott winner. He loves to have the last say at Chelt, Column of Fire could well be the one too)

Good luck all  :pint:

Saint Roi takes the 2.10 with a strong finish. Good stuff for anyone on the win.

2nd Aramaon @8s(great late charge, another few lengths may have got closer)
3rd Embittered @14s
4th Buildmeupbuttercup @16s (will be gutted to have been taken but this horse has more in the tank)
5th Elusive Belle @22s(also finished strongly in the final two fences)

Good continuation for me but I'm hearing that Hazel Hill is a N/R in the 4.10 and R4 deduction is applied.

RE: Goshen. Sad for Jamie Moore, he'll have his day and so will Goshen. That horse is a beauty with a lovely stride. Gladly horsey is all well and looking back you can see this horse instantly slows after landing on the rider. Goshen will win a big race one day.

Al Boum Photo takes the Gold Cup by neck @3s/4s is still fantastic odds

2nd Santini @5s/6s(woohoo)
3rd Lostintranslation @10s

What a race. To have three pretty much on the line. Damn I thought Santini had the strategy right there. Similarly with LiT but maybe went too early. Santini and Al Boum tracked each other in mid division. Another half length and Santini may have got it. But still great for me. Can't deny a back to back Gold Cup for Al Boum. Brilliant racing. Get in!

Panda Paws! You're a cunt  :D So am I a little bit today. Only one horse has let me down so far but the Canadian is still on. L31 turns to a winning L15 with 4 from 4 (placed). Won't be as fruitastic as 4 wins but that takes me well into profit alone.

Oh and realised I had the  50p e/w acca on that five-fold so now have a winning four-fold. Definitely a good festival for me. A cracking one for PP and also a few others. Pandas and Bamboo go hand in hand just sayin'  ;)

2nd Billaway @3s(well done good race)
3rd Shantou Flyer @5s (oosh, again thought it ran a well measured race)
4th Staker Wallace @8s
5th Minella Rocco @5s

My Canadian will at least return something with Shantou Flyer grabbing a place. Another horse I've always bet on.

4/5 so far Quaggy. Looking good with one winner and three places. The Bosses Oscar is the other Gordon Elliott horse of three contenders...and he will want the win. Walsh on Column of Fire is likely the one but I don't put it past Elliott to have The Bosses Oscar or Escaria Ten to set the pace and allow CoF a pathway. Could see an Elliott 1-2. I don't mind, five places up for grabs in the 5.30 so will take any of them! A second win at 11s for you will make some nice returns 3place/2wins :pint: Good luck!

First time we've been on the same horse all week!

One last payday?

That means we'll both have a three legged shocker  :D I have one more in my Canadian at 5.30 though. Could do with a winner tbh at 7s. Paloma Blue is one to watch and should get the better of Eclair De Beaufeu I think so have just stuck £5 e/w on that. Might be too much of a step up for Greaneteen right now, despite money behind it with good form.

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2020
Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Friday, March 13, 2020, 17:10:09
Well I called that totally wrong. Chosen Mate pulls through in the last couple where Paloma Blue was tracking and got squeezed. But the favourite claims it.

2nd Eclair De Beaufeu 6s(don't listen to me)
3rd Us And Them 10s
4th Greaneteen 5s
5th Theinval 55s

Told you Panda Paws. Think Lisp was 6th. Good run at 8/1 but not good enough. Showed promise two thirds in but then didn't push on. Will be in the frame more times than not in future. Was more disappointed with Paloma Blue in the end who finished about 10th.

Indefatigable pushes strong when it looked like Pileon was about to claim it, after drama at the last fence with Column of Fire looking strong to win and had a horrible fall. Indefatigable wins it by a snout!

1st Indefatigable @25s
2nd Pileon @9s
3rd Great White Shark @66s
4th Happy Go Lucky @33s
5th The Bosses Oscar @11s

There were a lot of horses impeded in the CoF fall (My Sister Sarah fell too), including my pick Escaria Ten, who actually looked pretty good for a top five but faded to evade the fallers. If that provisional 5th is right then all good for you Quaggy with 2 wins and 3 places out of 6. Fruity. Enjoy your weekend you bastard  ;)

Both horses ok btw but that could've been a shin breaker for Column of Fire so glad they're ok.

Paul Townend in great company between two great recent Jockeys, now pundits in Tony McCoy and Ruby Walsh. He surpasses what Walsh could never do. A double Gold Cup. That is some feat alone. Something very special there with Townend.

With the short term future of all sport under jeopardy, these kind of moments might be something to hold onto for a little while. This festival was only 2k down on spectators so no sign of people staying away. The only concern now is that there could be a good chunk of people now dispersing back across the country, carrying Covid-19.

I think what makes things look rather strange is there seems to be no blanket agreement from high up (at first) and things are left to individual entities to make that kind of call. I would say that is where Gov should step in and make that call. It wreaks of hypocrisy when a Government meeting of around 30 people is cancelled, due to this but an event with 60k people goes ahead.

Not to put a damper on the Festival I just think it's an error of judgement from the government in this particular area.

Was going to put some of my profit into tomorrow's football... looks like it'll be Albanian Division 3 where there's zero match fixing at all  :eek

With all this cancelled sport, the bookies will be losing out too. In the sense there will be very minimal money gained from the casual punters. This next few weeks could really be a time to beat the bookies. Because of what will be on, will have limited controls so random tennis matches in Bosnia or Pool in Peru etc (basically the not so regular markets) will be up for more exposure. Especially in the first few days to weeks as they won't be able to get a hold of all results "live" potentially and i'm sure there will be people within betting circles who have their links to delay some of this. Hmmm, interesting.

Anyone fancy jumping on a plane to to some "courtsiding", free mask included and 50/50 profit share?  :soapy tit wank:
